Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

3) The guy that invented Warp Drive.

Heh...I was looking up something else on 24 and saw that about George and Nina.
As for James Cromwell (the actor's name), he was the farmer in "Babe" and Zephram Cochran in "Star Trek: First Contact." Trekkies know he's the one who discovered warp drive.
You'll recognize the actor from other stuff tho...

Silly man! Prayers up for successful surgery and limited pain, even if you do WANT it! ;o)

Ah, now it makes sense. We know him mainly from Babe - one of Gidget's favorite movies.

2) I thought that's who it was, but was second guessing my memory.

I have to say, Babe was the only movie I ever recall actually making me *snort* in the theater.

Every time I think about it, I cry.
It's been a long time since I sent those packages to Afghanistan on behalf of the Hole...somewhere along the line it occurred to me that this might happen, but I know it never entered my mind when we first started.
I see he was stationed in Germany. The Chaplain is too.

<laughing>Oh, Hair, you're not up on your Trekology!
Zephram Cochran is the inventor of the warp drive that is the basis of interstellar travel in the Trek universe ...

Heh, didn't know that about Mason and Myers in RL.
That person was the head of the terrorist unit, I think, his name was Ryan Chappelle. I always though that was extremely bizarre, and wondered if it were going to be faked for the terrorists' benefit.
I must have missed the part about Zephram Cochran being Jack's Dad. When did they show his dad on the show? Guess we'll have to get the DVDs again; such a chore to watch it. ;o)

I miss where he was stationed. Did you notice which unit he was in? My nephew was in Afghanistan until earlier this year, but he was stationed out of Germany. Alexander was Army; drove an Apache Longbow D. Fine ride. He was also very appreciative of the knife winmag sent on behalf of the Hobbit Hole. Winmag posted a note from him after he'd received it.

We just watched First Contact the other night. That and Insurrection are two of my favorite Star Trek movies.
