The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

We're off to ring in thenewyear watchin' some "24" (Season 2).

Nana's gone to bed. Luke's gone to bed. Jr. is stretched out on the couch (which is where ~I~ should be).

We might channel surf over at midnight...or not...

Opted to forego the medicinal beverages. I'd just go to sleep.

D@mn, I'm old.

*snort* I got kinda sleepy after having an Old Fezziwig Ale with my Gumbo at supper. Perked up though while we were watching The Devil's Advocate. What an interesting movie. Pacino was a natural for his part in it!

The Devil's Advocate. What an interesting movie.

We saw that movie on late night TV several months ago. Hadn't planned on staying up, but it was too good to turn off! Not going to have that problem tonight :-(

Have a Happy New Year!! LSA & OB

We just watched "While You Were Sleeping" and then the Times Square ceremony, so at least made it to New Year on the East Coast!

I might make the next time zone, but that's about it, I think.

Happy New Year everyone!!

We watched the ball drop, popped open some Asti Spumante, then watched the fireworks from Boston on a local channel. We could also hear the fireworks from First Night in Worcester.

Stephen played for First Night back home...I'll have to call in the morning (or afternoon!) and see how it went for them!

That's great that Stephen played for First Night. Let me know how he did.

We never went to First Night activities in Worcester. We don't like crowds, and it was always either too cold, or cold and rainy, or snowy. We just enjoyed staying home in the warm and having Chinese, or just being together. The kids never asked about going, so we didn't feel the need.

Morning OT, lots of fireworks at midnite, some sounding 'suspicious'; surprisingly enough it woke me up but not LSA. Gypsygirl made it upstairs to make sure we were okay and slept the rest of the night by the bed; she was going to keep us safe.

Yes, she is indeed a good dog. She's our bestest dog.

And we're off for the first walk of 2007.

We played computer games and at some point noticed it was after midnight so we went to bed.

Happy new year all. I hope this one is as good as the last one.

g'mornin'. Didn't stay up last night.

Saw the mom and sis off this morning, ran a load of laundry, did some de-cluttering and puting-things-back-where-they-belong (they get disordered when I have adult houseguests).

WK is working today. We've hit a gravelly patch (not really rocky, you see) and we'll talk later.

I'll maybe go over to the Ford Museum and have a look at the gravesite later.

First night back home is so small it doesn't really count as crowds...especially since we tend to know half the attendents. ;-) I always enjoyed it. They close the main street in town to traffic, so people can walk anywhere, and basically all churches and halls have some sort of act going on - musical or comedy or something. And it's seven bucks, which makes the whole thing a real bargain, considering how much you get to hear.
