The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

To liturgy, yeah. In a few minutes here. Starts at seven with vespers.

Tomorrow the plan is for me to follow Hair and ecurbh to the beach house, and then over to Puyallup to give Ben and Anne and Jacinta their presents and all.

So I'm crashin' lots of parties. ;-)

Just spent awhile playing with brother's watch. Have to get it set up, doncha know... It's one of those ones that syncs with the atomic clock. Guess those are more and more common - I was suprised to see that feature in basic workhorse digital watches. Used to be only available on really fancy ones. Still have to manually sync, but even so...pretty nifty.

Oops...that second paragraph got garbled. I'm going to follow Hair and ecurbh to the beach house, and then later go to Puyallup on my own.

OK, I'm gonna sign off for the evening. Got Cinnamon Rolls to shape and get ready for baking when we roll outta bed at the crack of noon tomorrow. I'm also going to make some candy to put in the kids 'stockings'. Joseph couldn't find the box their actual Christmas stockings are in, so we're gonna gin something up for this year. ;o) We have to leave at 10:30 for Midnight Mass, so we can get all the stuff ready in the kitchen at the Parish Hall for the Choir party after Mass.

So I hope everyone has a very Blessed Christmas celebrating with family or friends, and I'll see y'all later tomorrow, or on Tuesday!

Looks like I'm going luggage shopping at the Tarzay on Wednesday.

Now.....we've got an "Iron Chef" Christmas situation. We really should bring something to my brother and sister-in-law's table tomorrow. Sister didn't shop for it, I didn't have a car today, and stores are closed tomorrow. Wonder what we'll do?

Right now we're leaning towards a fruit salad. Or we could do rolls or pumpkin bread.

RIP The Godfather of Soul, James Brown

I just watched him yesterday in "Blues Brothers 2000". That's the only second time I've watched that movie (the first was at a dollar matinee), but James Brown was a standout in both. 73 should be considered "advanced middle age".

I spent Christmas eve and the wee hours of Christmas morning fixing my XP system while working on the help desk. That Dell "compact form factor" fits nicely in a pilot's helmet bag. It was an evil mixture of Roxio 9, ATI Catalyst, and Microsoft .NET all fighting for the CPU at the same instant. It must have had something to do with the alignment of the planets.

Merry Christmas to everyone at the Hobbit Hole.
