Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Will you be going home for Christmas?
Yeah, fly out Sunday morning.
She's right! I'd always gone with Mama to buy shoes, and she paid for them, the least expensive we could get away with. I was a Senior in high school before I bought my first pair of shoes on my own. It was only then, after spending some time looking, that I realized I needed WIDE shoes. I enjoyed wearing shoes so much more, after that revelation. ;o)
WooHoo! An early Christmas gift!
I picked David up in Boston yesterday afternoon. The traffic was horrible because they still haven't re-opened the Ted Williams tunnel which I used to take DIRECTLY to the airport from the Mass Pike. Now they have us winding through parts of downtown, and the detour signs are set up about 20 feet from the actual turn, so you don't have a lot of lead time to change lanes! VEY nerve wracking!
I always fly into Providence...it's right off the interstate.
YAY!!!
Well, that blows!!
Yeah...well, I'll only be there long enough to put bottles in the fridge and fill out paperwork. Then as a reward, I'll hit the likker store on the way home. :)
They don't call it "Mass"...which confuses me a bit sometimes. So it'd be the Christmas Vigil Liturgy, I guess. It's at seven. They typically only do one liturgy a day, unlike in the Roman rite. And all services are sung, but there are different "tones" for different liturgies...some are mostly used just for feasts.
As I understand it!
Regarding early music, one of the folks I came across when I was Googling my last name was a professor of early music. Wouldn't that be a cool job?
I've seen pictures of a viola da gamba and vielle, but never heard one in person. Very cool!
Heh...
You know, it's actually probably been a decade since I saw Charlie Brown's Christmas.
Which mostly just makes me old.
I've been to that airport...not to fly out, but to pick folks up.
Easy to get to and pretty well laid out, as I recall.
Boston is a nightmare right now. Even more than usual.
:-)
...I'm getting Steve a porterhouse steak for Christmas.
It's always good to plan your trips to accomplish more than one errand :-)
It's probably been at least half that since I saw that special. Hmm.
Just doing my part for global warming. :)
Providence would have been great, except he got a terrific deal on JetBlue, and they only fly into Boston.
Mmmm.
It's on one network or the other every year; usually around Thanksgiving, which is really stupid. I guess the networks want to put their latest insipid 'Holiday' special on closer to Christmas. I can't stand most of the 'made for tv' Christmas shows, so I just don't waste my time watching.
