Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
You went home, didn't you?
Ugh, it's not even two.
resist! resist!
:D
In case you did not guess I came home and lunch and am done for the day/week/month/year.
Heh, cross posted.
Argh, WHY isn't it Friday?
Friday? What is Friday Precious?
Matthew's getting... a cell phone.
Well, I finally went into a gun shop to look at my idea of a boat gun, so could use some professional advice.
They had a Springfield Armory SOCOM 16 on the shelf, so I was able to shoulder it and at least see how it feels. I like the gun, it just has that *look*, but like a lot of long guns, it doesn't fit my face - when I put my cheek down on the comb, my eye is looking right into the back of the bolt and I can't see the target. The stock felt a little short too, though I suppose that might be better with a recoil pad.
I also got to shoulder an Armalite AR10, in 308 as well. The Armalite fits my face perfectly, when I shoulder it, my eye is looking right down the barrel the way it ought to. Just like my Remington 700. So if I went for iron sights, the thing would be right on. No issues with the stock length, either.
I don't really know which is the better gun of the two, in terms of accuracy, reliability, etc., but considering that one fits and the other doesn't, the Armalite seems like a no brainer as the winner.
But I wanted to get you guys' opinions, or anyone else's that has one.
Thanks much,
and
Merry Christmas!
Get a new stock with a cheek rest.
EVERYBODY SING one of my favorite "Holiday songs."
It's the most wonderful time...for a beer...
A had a friend with the last name of "Werme"...pronounced "wormie". His wife told me she thought it was a nickname until it was "too late"...she found out after she decided to keep him.
I still have to work tomorrow. And I had an hour-and-a-half discussion that basically came down to the other chick not understanding that there's more than one way to code something.
ExGeeEye--what is the magic number to which we are counting?
Great...now that's stuck in my head.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I guess a cheek rest would get the job done. Do you rate one gun as being better than the other?
Sam - I'd go with one that fits you better; while they are both good firearms, I would tend toward the AR platform. Having said that I don't have either in my gun rack. There are lots of goodies available for both if you plan to 'pimp your ride'. OB
I have no idea when I'll quit.
Today's my Dad's 60th birthday.
Heh...it's also Jack's. Kewl.
Not 60th, though.
Good evening :~)
So - did you call your dad?
Way cool!! I knew it had been awhile, but I wasn't aware that it was 7 months already. Time flies when you're having fun :-) LSA
