Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Are we still doing our 5-year anniversary chat-view of LOTR this week?

I'm glad you asked. Didn't we say tomorrow (Tuesday) night?
To: Ramius
Yes it did, and I have access to ~your~ picture as well.
To: Corin Stormhands
God's a much better writer than that.It'd be hard to be any worse.

I'm skeered to click on that at work...
To: RosieCotton
I'm at home for lunch so I clicked it but couldn't get it to load.
In other news, shipping packages the week before Christmas is stoopid. In other, other news, I got the puppies scheduled for their neutering right after New Year's. Poor guys.

It's not naughty. Just bizarre.
To: JenB
I think there may be too much traffic there now. I saw it on ~another~ forum.

I'm not sure what disaster the Mormons are expecting, but this
72 hour kit sounds pretty nifty! I might just do it just to say I did!
You wouldn't feast, but you likely *would* be able to keep your energy levels up...

The time is up to you east coasters, since it'll be later for you.

I'm probably good for anytime after 8 p.m. EST. But if we start much past 9:30 I prolly won't make it through Moria.

Well Hair and them's experience shows the wisdom of keeping some sort of Emergency Kit packed and ready. One never knows, does one?
We had a bug out box all packed right after 9/11. We could have grabbed it, and a flat of water bottles and kept on the road for a day or two, or stopped and camped overnight, if necessary. We've slowly used all the stuff that was in it, and haven't created a new one. Probably a good thing to have, though if we were without power for a few days, we'd survive. We have propane tanks, a grill with a side burner, and even a 3 burner propane stove, so we could cook canned goods and stuff from the freezer. We wouldn't freeze because we could all camp out in the den and keep the fireplace going, putting blankets over the doorways to the rest of the house to keep the room warm.

Y'all do it when you like. I'll be at choir practice until about 10pm on Tuesday, since it's our last rehearsal before Christmas. I'll pop the movie in and catch up with the chat when I get back.

I think the Mormons have always taught about a certain level of emergency preparedness.
You know, in their early days, they had to move a lot, and often quickly.
