The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Rosie just called! I spoke to both Rosie and Hair.

Everybody's okay. Homer, of course, had a hissy fit, but the horses and the other critters are just dandy. They have no power, but that's to be expected.

Ramius is at the office, but, since the only way to get into the office is via keycard, he can't get in. He and his coworkers are standing around in the parking lot instead of going home. <ummmmm ...>

Everything is fine at the beach house. Apparently, Hair's father was able to surf the Web, and he says the wind gusts in Hair's neck of the woods got up to 50mph.

They have firm orders to check in when they can, and Hair says they've been taking pictures and videos throughout, just for our delectation ...!

FWIW, all day long I've been adding notes to my September calendar to remind me why I don't want to do the show again...

Have you got "because there will be a family crisis in November or December"?

Have you got "because there will be a family crisis in November or December"?

You mean as opposed to any other month?

Currently it has things like "remember how you felt on December 15." Needless to say, Corin is a bit overwhelmed by the coming holidays.

I'd run away or have a mental breakdown if I didn't know that it would all still be waiting for me when I get back.

It doesn't help that the idjits at wife's company decided it made sense to do their regional sales meetings ~this week~. Last year it was in early January.

Yeah, already planning what to have tonight. Prolly not egg nog. Calories are a big issue, and Christmas isn't even here yet.

It came out ok-ish too! Considering I had never made gumbo and have only had gumbo once or twice, it tasted yummy and I think gumbo-y. I had the leftovers for lunch. Just warmed me up inside.

Thanks, Rose, for the updates on Rosie, Hair and ecurbh, and Ramius. That's amusing that they're standing around waiting cause they can't get in with their keycards. They think the power will be back on soon enough to get in after a little bit, so they don't want to go home, and have to turn around and come back?

Put a note on EACH day in Sept., so your resolve won't break down.

I only have to make it to September 6. That's the night of the kickoff.

Good luck! Should we put notes on our calendars to remind you to "Hold Fast"?

Prolly not a bad idea. ecurbh volunteered to host an intervention.

If the decision were to be made today, I'd have no problem saying no. But I was here last December as well.

I still haven't gotten any mail from you!

:-(

Nonetheless, I feel like I should bake a red velvet cake in honor of the Those in the West.
