What a wonderful, heart-warming story. Thanks for sharing it.
You owe me a Kleenex :)

Skidboot even has his own website.
From the website:
I have been asked about Skidboot's blindness. A few years ago, Skidboot was kicked in the head by a horse. He is blind in his left eye because of that. We took him to the best doggie opthamologist in Texas. We found out he has something called Progressive Retinal Atrophy. That is probably why he didn't see the horse when he stumbled into it. PRA is not treatable, there is no cure. Skidboot has been completly blind for about a year.
Yes, Skidboot is still alive. We celebrate his birthday on Thanksgiving. He was born in 1992. His mama was a blue heeler, we have no idea what his daddy was.

Thanks, that was wonderful.
Damn, I feel all misty eyed.
Texas is a great place with some great people.

I saw Skidboot perform at the Texas State Fair a few years ago. Afterwards he was allowed to go meet his audience. Out of all the hundreds of people, he came directly to me! :)

At the risk of damning with faint praise, this dog is smarter than a Democrat!
