Tancredo says president believes nation should be merely 'idea' without borders

PALM BEACH, Fla. – President Bush believes America should be more of an idea than an actual place, a Republican congressman told WND in an exclusive interview.

"People have to understand what we're talking about here. The president of the United States is an internationalist," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. "He is going to do what he can to create a place where the idea of America is just that – it's an idea. It's not an actual place defined by borders. I mean this is where this guy is really going."

Tancredo lashed out at the White House's lack of action in securing U.S. borders, and said efforts to merge the U.S. with both Mexico and Canada is not a fantasy.

[...]

He pointed to Florida's largest city as an example of how the nature of America can be changed by uncontrolled immigration.

"Look at what has happened to Miami. It has become a Third World country," he said. "You just pick it up and take it and move it someplace. You would never know you're in the United States of America. You would certainly say you're in a Third World country."

He said quickly changing demographics can cause big problems, and specifically cited the "Islamization of Europe" in recent years which has led to conflict across the continent.

Which would be fine, if you actually succeeded in doing it. I still have trouble deciphering how an Islamic constitution makes Iraq America, though. I might just be slow.

What was Bush's actual quote and what was the context. I hate Tancredo.

The word America is not exclusive to the US. People is Mexico, Brazil and all through South and Central America refer to themselves as living in "America."

We as a nation need to stress the United States and drop the American so that we delineate ourselves from the rest of the American continents.

Based on Tancredo's logic, Ronald Reagan didn't think America should be an actual place, either. The North American accord was introduced by Reagan as part of his presidential campaign kickoff.

Talk about an article to drive the bots insane.

Bush doesn't defend the borders. And I surmise he probably thinks a North American Union is a swell idea too.

Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. "He is going to do what he can to create a place where the idea of America is just that – it's an idea. It's not an actual place defined by borders.

The United States of America is an actual place defined by borders. America is much older and is an idea as much as an indefinite place. These two things should be separated in concept. The USA is an incorporated entity; America was America even while British, French, Spanish, Indian, and Rusian before The USA was created by the Federal Constitution of 1787 or the Confederacy of a decade earlier, and America is still there underneath all this.

I avoid Miami for the most part, however not long ago I was in the Miami airport, and one of the workers there was trying to tell me I could not take photos of my son and his girlfriend in line as they waited to be screened. She was yelling at me in SPANISH! Now, there is no reason, looking at me, one would assume I speak Spanish. I ignored her until she spoke to me in English. But this speaks volumes.

Miami as a third world country,

if you want to see the nature of a countries lowest residents, see the courthouses and its inhabitants.

"What was Bush's actual quote and what was the context."

I don't think there is or was a quote. It's based more on president Bush's actions. Working with Pelosi, Kennedy and Reid on an immigration bill ain't a good thing. When you let people just march into this country, cut in the line, and give them a free pass, you symbolically erase the borders that make this nation what it is.

Do you actually think Reagan would have approved welfare, anchor babies, WIC, food stamps, free health care, free dental care, free education for illegal aliens?

Could you provide a link to this welfare state that free traders claim Reagan approved?
