HOUSTON — Houston Texans offensive lineman Fred Weary was shot with a Taser before being arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop. He was pulled over at 1 p.m. about six miles from Reliant Stadium and transported to jail. Houston Police officer Gabriel Ortiz said he "possibly faces charges of resisting arrest." Weary, 29, was being held at Houston's Central Jail on Tuesday night but had not been charged with a crime, and no bond had been set, a jail official said. "At this time, we're gathering all the information and getting all the facts," said Tony Wyllie, Texans' vice president of communications. Wyllie said the Texans were informed of the arrest by an anonymous tip and that their director of security and other team officials were working to find out what happened.

Probably just a racist cop....who else would ever arrest a player in the NFL when we all know the players are role models for our youth. (please remove sarcasm tag)

The taser was a bit excessive. After all, he was a Texan lineman. All the cops needed to do was use the bull rush or shoulder club/spin technique and he would have been subdued.

Fred Weary . . . . "possibly faces charges of resisting arrest."

"No arrest for the Weary!"

That Tazer is about the only thing his body's blocked this season...... when can the cops take out the rest of the offensive line.....Hell they won't miss him anyway...... it's like he's never 'there' when he's on the field..

Let's look at the facts...

Pulled over at 1pm.

No other charge than resisting arrest, no other facts released.

DWB.

He was probably going to pick up his kids from school.

If you want a championship Houston team, I guess your stuck with the Houston Dynamos, the other football team.

What the heck was the taser for. Come on, he plays for the Texans. ANYBODY should have been able to stop this guy with no problem!

I'd check to see whether the officer had lost any money betting on the team. Maybe the news report is being sparse because they're trying to protect his privacy over some other charge, but the fact that their only charge so far is "possibly" resisting arrest makes me think that there's plenty of wrongdoing to go around on the whole situation. Maybe they suspected that he was planning to shop at K-Mart and just wanted to be proactive. Is shopping at K-Mart on Westheimer still a crime as it was a few years ago? I usually like to support the police, but I can no longer assume that they are always doing the right thing.

Thanks for posting this yet another abuse of taser. Weary claims he complied but was tasered anyway.

Tasers and no knock raids are on my Christmas list. I want them both banned nationwide.
