24% of Americans are Republican! [Vanity]
USA Today Poll | November 14, 2006 | 1-Eagle

24% of Americans are Republican!

(And other reasons not to trust USA Today, and polls in general.)

USA Today released its data Nov. 14th, on the state of the country. Bad news folks, theres only 24% of Americans who are Republican now! Whoops!

Here are some interesting thoughts that Jill Lawrence forgot to mention, should you choose to believe the USA Today numbers:

1,004 people are polled. 24% are said to be Republicans. 35% said they are Democrats.

This means that a whopping 41% of Americans are not affiliated with any party! Amazing!

Independents, are practically the new majority!
For Democrats who struggled with the 'new math' here is the breakdown:
No party: 41%
Democrat: 35%
Republican: 24%
TOTAL: 100%

52% of Americans, a majority think the country is either worse off, or about the same!
Only 48% of Americans think things will be better with Democrats, and that includes the 35% Democrats opinions!

We should congratulate Ms. Lawrence on her amazing conclusion that people expect their representation to lead! Where she got the inference that this should exclude President Bush must be a secret delved from the tea leaves that the rest of us cannot perceive?

****SHOCK!!***** President Bush only has an "approval rating" of 33%!! Which must mean that only 9% of the 'non-affiliated' plus the 24% of Americans who are Republican support him!

*****MORE SHOCK!!**** 38% of those polled have never heard of Nancy Pelosi!

Good Gracious! How can they print numbers like that with a straight face?? Or do they?

USA Today has no clue about America! If they openly slant their poll by only polling 24% Republicans, how can they claim any credibility?

The USA Today poll published November 14th, 2006 is classic evidence of why you should never trust the liberal press, its 'polls' or any other information you get from it. It is all tainted, or 'yellow journalism' and has no credibility whatsoever!

I vote Republican. I'm registered as a Republican. But, if they put someone like Rudy as our leader or some other "moderate" I would be considered independent. People are fed up with Washington. Republicans are the only people with the ideological gumption to back up their votes. Democrats largely vote because of tradition or promised perks. Republicans vote because of ideology. When the party ceases to represent that ideology, people may seek other paths. The numbers may actually be real is my point.

You also have to consider that there may be some folks who live in some areas who, if you ask them, would say "I'm independent but tend to vote republican". These people are really republicans, but don't want to admit it because of a stigma that is out there in some places. I believe this has most to do with class issues. On the other hand, I'm sure there are many out there who say they are democrats, but will often vote republican for the same reason.

Honestly, is this much different than it is historically? A lot of people claim to be unaffiliated, and republicans have always trailed dems as declared party members.

No way has the Republican party fallen to a mere 24%! These pollsters just call and talk to whoever answers the phone. How many of the respondents:
1) Old enough to vote?
2) Legal citizens?
3) been in the country longer than 3 weeks? (38% of them have never heard of Nancy Pelosi!!)
4) believe in UFO's?
5) Hope for a worldwide Islamic victory?
6) Sit around watching Price is Right all day?

I think the explanation is simple. Read where it says "of Americans", i.e. "all". Most other such surveys you probably read are "of Americans registered to vote."

I don't doubt that 24% of Americans self-identify as Republicans. What's so unusual about that in this political climate?

Well, the point is that you can't call a poll accurate, if the sample is way out of proportion with reality. The liberal press wants to wail about 'polarization of politics,' 'a country divided politically' but then they print polls as if nobody really cares. It doesn't add up.

Well, yes. If you can believe exit polls. Personally, I don't trust any numbers, though. You have to consider the sources, which are liberal organs and have an agenda.

There is a struggle ongoing for control over the Republican party and the conservatives are not winning. The media party has chosen our presidential canidates - the insane guy and the guy in the dress. Neither are conservative by any stretch of the imagination. Which means they will lose to whoever the democrats put up. Which is why the media party selected them for us.

We should not play along with this media inspired scenario. Currently liberal repubicans are tryig to beat riff-raff out of their pup tent just as they did in the past before Regan came along. We need to have a conservative candidate - with a clear agenda/voice or the Republican party will return to it's permanent minority status.
