The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

Amen.. I feel like I am only on the "receiving end "on this thread. I want to thank you for taking the time each day to pray, share God's Word, and be a encourager to me. God has , in a sense, put me on a shelf right now.I have been ill for over two months. Thank you Knitting, bperiwinkle7 ,kittysmittens,and all of you who are "Gods' encouragers" to me.

I hope you get feeling better soon, Polly.

This has been a terrible winter for illness... Hope you live where Spring arrives early, with fresh air, sunshine, and hope. :-)

When the LORD draws us aside into a quiet, still and actionless place, he is further crafting us into the wonderful vessel he has planned, useful, beautiful and loved.

You are in my prayers, and it is hard like KAC says, but there is plenty of sweet, fragrant grass and still, clear water where you are lying down.

It started with an ear infection. I developed a rash during the course of the meds for it (stopped taking the meds). Got the flu, infection went into my sinuses, doc thought my rash looked viral. Gave me augmentin. Had a dangerous reaction, got more sinus meds. Started coughing a lot, an asthmatic type cough my doc and I thought. He gave me abuterol. Cough got worse, and would get kicked off by smells...sitting in church became very difficult for me. I began to have to wear charcoal masks just to get through church. It got worse and worse, and I got more and more sensitive...my throat hurt a lot. And being kept out of crowds and church really bothered me!

One day I just broke down crying. But later that week, I found out I didn't have asthma after all, but a problem with my vocal cords having spasms that mimic asthma. I also had developed a fungal infection in my throat which was keeping everything irritated. And even though I had tested negative on an allergy screen, my main doc said that with all the deep itchiness I was feeling in my throat and ears, I no doubt was reacting to something, and he put me on allegra.

I stopped the abuterol, started sucking on cough drops and chewing gum for my throat, and learned a breathing technique that would stop the spasms. In less than 2 wks, I was back in church, with no masks able to breathe. It felt like a miracle to me!

I still get itchy in the throat and ears, but then I take an allergy pill, and the spasms haven't flared back up since.

Praying you will be Well Soon, Dear Polly, in His Most Lovely Name. bp7, the Hymn in #1473 is just Outstandingly Excellent!

GLORY BE TO THE GOD THE FATHER {"To Him be the glory forever!" Romans 11:36}

"Glory be to God the Father,
Glory be to God the Son,
Glory be to God the Spirit,
Great Jehovah, Three in One!
Glory, glory, glory, glory,
While eternal ages run!

Glory be to Him Who loved us,
Washed us from each spot and stain!
Glory be to Him Who bought us,
Made us kings with Him to reign!
Glory, glory, glory, glory,
To the Lamb that once was slain!

Glory to the King of angels,
Glory to the church's King,
Glory to the King of nations!
Heaven and earth, your praises bring;
Glory, glory, glory, glory,
To the King of glory bring!

"Glory, blessing, praise eternal!"
Thus the choir of angels sings;
"Honor, riches, power, dominion!"
Thus its praise creation brings;
Glory, glory, glory, glory,
Glory to the King of kings!" (Horatius Bonar, 1866)

Glory to You, Your Highness our King! All Hail King Jesus Who Forever Reigns! Be Pleased, Your Majesty, to Accept our Worship through Jesus Christ. Forgive our Sins, and Heal our Land; Restore us to Godliness Again. Pour Out Great Grace Upon our America, O King of Saints.

We Pray for Healing for our Polly, O Lord; Please Grant her Refreshment of Health. We Pray, Abba-Father, for All who Need Thy Touch. Cover us, Jesus, in Thy Comforting, Gracious Love.

We Pray, our Shepherd, for the Rescue of the Helpless; Please Guard them, Lord Jesus our King. Foil All who would Plunder them for their Stem Cells, O God. May Every Frozen Embryo be Kept Safe, and Placed into Loving, Waiting Arms. Please Hold Back the Tide of Evil that is Threatening to Drown our Land!

Quicken us in Thy Power and Grace, and be Exalted Forever, our Lord of Peace. In the Name of Jesus Christ, we Lift You High, Master, amen.

http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/j/l/jlmysoul.htm

Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to Thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high.
Hide me, O my Savior, hide, till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide; O receive my soul at last.

Other refuge have I none, hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, ah! leave me not alone, still support and comfort me.
All my trust on Thee is stayed, all my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenseless head with the shadow of Thy wing.

Wilt Thou not regard my call? Wilt Thou not accept my prayer?
Lo! I sink, I faint, I fall—Lo! on Thee I cast my care;
Reach me out Thy gracious hand! While I of Thy strength receive,
Hoping against hope I stand, dying, and behold, I live.

Thou, O Christ, art all I want, more than all in Thee I find;
Raise the fallen, cheer the faint, heal the sick, and lead the blind.
Just and holy is Thy Name, I am all unrighteousness;
False and full of sin I am; Thou art full of truth and grace.

Plenteous grace with Thee is found, grace to cover all my sin;
Let the healing streams abound; make and keep me pure within.
Thou of life the fountain art, freely let me take of Thee;
Spring Thou up within my heart; rise to all eternity.
--Charles Wesley

O Bride of Christ, rejoice!

Amen, beyond all circumstances, all men, all battles and spiritual forces of wickedness, all opposition, even beyond the victories in themselves, let us rejoice in Jesus. We are written on the palms of His hands. At the end He will open them up like a book and say, "This one, this precious one I love, is written here." Amen.
