The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/09/2006 6:49:58 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

WHEN MORNING GILDS THE SKIES

When morning gilds the skies
my heart awaking cries:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer,
to Jesus I repair:
may Jesus Christ be praised!

When you begin the day,
O never fail to say,
may Jesus Christ be praised!
And at your work rejoice,
to sing with heart and voice,
may Jesus Christ be praised!

And may it be, Merciful Father, that we return unto You with praise and thanksgiving, no matter the circumstance, no matter the trial. For Your Grace abounds in the midst of calamity and our faith is perfected in the midst of trial. May Jesus Christ be praised!

Morning prayer ping!

Prayer on a Busy Morning

O my Lord,
so many things pull at me today,
so many things to remember to do,
calls to make,
errands to run,
people to see.
And yet,
in the hubbub of my busy day,
let me remember what is most important:
to bring my mind back to you,
to see others as you would see them,
to be your hands wherever I might be -
to do what I do
for you, and through your power
each step of the way.

Remind me Lord,
that no matter how hectic it all seems,
you are there with me, each step of the way.

Amen.

Lord,
Many pressing things seem so frightening right now, and people's lives hang in the balance of decisions that are made, words that are said, actions taken. Be with all of those who are on the edge of danger, especially through no fault of their own, and watch over our military.

Help us to be your hands, to do your work, your voice, to say the right thing, your eyes, to see as you would do, this day and always, Amen.

At Thy feet, O Christ, we lay
Thine own gift of this new day;
Doubt of what it holds in store
Makes us crave Thine aid the more;
Lest it prove a time of loss,
Mark, it Savior, with Thy Cross.

If it flow on calm and bright,
Be Thyself our chief Delight;
If it bring unknown distress,
Good is all that Thou canst bless;
Only, while its hours begin,
Pray we, keep them clear of sin.

We in part our weakness know
And in part discern our foe;
Well for us, before Thine eyes
All our danger open lies;
Turn not from us, while we plead
Thy compassions and our need.

Fain would we Thy Word embrace,
Live each moment on Thy grace,
All our selves to Thee consign,
Fold up all our wills in Thine,
Think, and speak, and do, and be
Simply that which pleases Thee.

Hear us, Lord, and that right soon;
Hear, and grant the choicest boon
That Thy love can e’er impart,
Loyal singleness of heart;
So shall this and all our days,
Christ and God, show forth Thy praise.

Exo 33:18 Moses said, "Please show me your glory."
Exo 33:19 And he said, "I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name 'The LORD.' And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
Exo 33:20 But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live."
Exo 33:21 And the LORD said, "Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock,
Exo 33:22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
Exo 33:23 Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen."

Thank you for this day, Lord. Put us in that Rock, Jesus, and let us see your Glory.
while we are hidden in you, keep strife from our ears and the reproach of men away from us. We will be satisfied with you.......

Psa 17:15 But I will see Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied with Your presence.

Bless my brothers and sisters as we pray for the revival of this nation to your Word and to obedience to you. We ask that Jesus be exalted in this land. Let this prayer room serve and please you and accomplish much to our good and the good of all.
We expectantly ask this in Jesus's name.

O Lord,
there are times,
after the storm,
the bomb,
the earthquake,
the sickness,
the accident,
the crime
people shake their fists and say,
"If you loved us, how could you do this to us,
put us in a world where terror happens,
put us in a world where disaster rips out our hearts,
put us in a world where sickness steals our love,
the evil that men do empties our lives?"

How we long to blame when hurt,
how we long to kill the very thing
which stole our joy, our lives, our security,
and yet, how does one take revenge
on the shaking earth,
or sue the storm,
or arrest the plague?

Help us, God,
you, who have also been through the grieving process
as the Son,
betrayed, beaten, murdered,
the Son who saw friends and loved ones die,
who knew all those things
life brings that makes us want to rage,
strike out,
hit back.

O God, you the Father,
who saw what this world did to your son,
who saw the rejection,
who saw the murder,
and yet, for love refused to strike.

O God, you the Spirit,
you who moved upon the face of the deep,
you who quickened and brought life,
who filled the hearts of those who would listen,
how often did you see the message rejected,
the concept misunderstood,
the word twisted into personal agendas,
and yet you keep breathing your word of hope and love
even in the midst of sorrow and anguish, and despair.

O Lord, you know our pain!
How often have your arms wrapped around us,
when we, like Job,
beat our anger against your chest,
in our frustration,
our grief,
our fear,
our loss,
until at last, with anger spent,
those of us who will listen to your soft voice
come to see that we do not have the answers,
except that the world turns,
and the sun rises,
and we are much smaller than the universe,
and we are not God.

O Lord,
in our smallness and anger and grief,
remind us that you have given us the gift to grow,
and to choose,
and to accept or reject.

Help us choose the light,
even when it hurts and blinds our eyes.
Help us choose to grow,
even when the growth comes after great pain.
Help us choose to love.

2 Chronicles 7:14 ~ If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

O Lord, it is unto You that we return with glorious praise for the Love of Your Heart and the Promise of Your Word ... may You be exalted on earth as You are in Heaven.

We submit our lives before You, Merciful Father, and pray that Your cleansing power would wash over us, that we might arise, renewed and refreshed, ever before the Throne of Grace on behalf of fallen peoples everywhere, and our beloved country in particular.

Turn back the dumbness of politically correct that tells us our eyes do not see what we do ... our ears do not hear what we hear. Strengthen us to confront evil on all sides, for it is incessant and fierce.

How we praise You, Lord God, that You are not mocked. Let those outside of Christ be drawn into Eternal Life, while You still may be found, for as we have sown, so shall we reap, but for the Blood of Christ. Let revival spread throughout the land, Sovereign Lord, and let is start with me. Cause the little lights of individuals to be drawn into an ever widening circle, that our beloved country would be consumed for the cause of Christ, that we may be healed ... that we would live.

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we praise You, Amen ...

Your Tagline, Dear Carbine, is Echoed by my own heart; I Miss her, too, and Pray she is Well.

Our Father and our God, we are Gathering before You in Love, Earnestly Laying our Petitions at Your Feet. We Expectantly Wait Upon You, our Savior, Looking to You as our Provider and Source. Nothing is too Hard for our Great and Awesome Lord; in Your Omnipotence, You know All, and by Your Glorious Power All Things are Possible Indeed. Our Heads are Bowed, Holy One, and our Hearts are Lifted to our Faithful and Loving God.

Our President is Ever on our Minds, Gracious Lord, as he Endures Daily Assaults of Hate-Filled Words. Help him to Stand Unwaveringly Upon Thee, his Sure Foundation and His Rock of Strength. May Thy Spirit Guide him in All his Works, and Cause him to Walk Steadily in Thy Ways. May Christ be the Treasure of his Life, his Salvation, his Hope and his Giver of Grace and Peace.

Thank You, our Lord, for our Able, Brave Military, and we Pray that Christ will be the Savior of Every One. Guard them from Evil, Fill them with Power, and Comfort their Hearts as they Miss their Dear Ones at Home.

We Pray for the Blessing and Protection of Israel, O King of Jerusalem, Grant them Armloads of Grace. Comfort Thy Church in All their Afflictions, and Lift Up those Persecuted for Jesus Christ. We Pray for Blessings for the Family of Christ; Cover them with Grace, our Loving God of Hosts. We Plead for Revival of our America, for the Sweeping Aside of Depravity, Evil and Sin. Save us from Destruction, our Saving God, as we Pray All Things in Jesus' Name, amen.

Someone who needs our prayers:

Posted on 11/13/2006 11:30:58 AM PST by Froufrou

Dear Fellow FReepers:

Many times, I've seen the power we have as prayer warriors and I have an urgent request.

A good friend, Emily, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Since she lost her mom to breast cancer, she has bravely elected radical double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using her own abdominal tissue.

She has jokingly said that if she has to go under she wants to make it worthwhile, hence a 'tummy tuck' to assist with a natural reconstruction.

I've encouraged her as much as possible while keeping as positive as I can. This surgery is underway and is by now probably only about half over.

Please send your prayers for her. Thank you and Bless you.

1Co 11:31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged.

Oh Father, We hate the sin we see about us. But within, we allow sin to stay, whether intentionally or not. Help us to judge our own hearts now. Your Word says judgement begins at the house of the Lord. Cleanse us and cleanse this land from fearful and hideous sin. Turn our hearts.

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Lord we know you only wait for the return of the sinner.

Luk 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
Luk 15:19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants."'
Luk 15:20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

I feel overwhelmed when I think of the wickedness and the lies which mount up to heaven. Help us Lord and send your Holy Spirit to revive this nation and silence the enemy...
