Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1>
At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops, and all our own needs.
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Fathers throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempters snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
William Bradbury
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
Psalm 46: 1-3

Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.
Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.
Thy Word commands our flesh to dust,
Return, ye sons of men:
All nations rose from earth at first,
And turn to earth again.
A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
With all their lives and cares,
Are carried downwards by the flood,
And lost in following years.
Time, like an ever rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
Like flowery fields the nations stand
Pleased with the morning light;
The flowers beneath the mowers hand
Lie withering ere tis night.
Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.

Bow down Thine ear, O Lord, and hear,
For I am poor and great my need;
Preserve my soul, for Thee I fear;
O God, Thy trusting servant heed.
O Lord, be merciful to me,
For all the day to Thee I cry;
Rejoice Thy servant, for to Thee
I lift my soul, O Lord most high.
For Thou, O Lord, art good and kind,
And ready to forgive Thou art;
Abundant mercy they shall find
Who call on Thee with all their heart.
O Lord, incline Thine ear to me,
My voice of supplication heed;
In trouble I will cry to Thee,
For Thou wilt answer when I plead.
There is no God but Thee alone,
Nor works like Thine, O Lord most high;
All nations shall surround Thy throne
And their Creator glorify.
In all Thy deeds how great Thou art!
Thou one true God, Thy way make clear;
Teach me with undivided heart
To trust Thy truth, Thy Name to fear.
You're so very welcome. Thank you for your lovely thoughts and prayers - I'm so glad the God of Dips loves us all!
Happy to hear about your shoulder mending. I did my first cooking of the holidays today, although my hands are still very tender and the red spots are all still there. At least my breathing was OK.
Now for a fun evening in the 'hood. Already hear bottles breaking in front of my window. Just pray I don't have reason to call cops tonight. Fire truck was out front much of the day and I was very scared, but never saw what the problem was.
Thank you all for this place to pray - I've been having a hard time, but OK overall. Oh, bp7, thank you for your hymn - it was played at the first Ford service in CA, too. A favorite of mine.
Happy New Year and God bless us, every one!

Miserare Nobis
(a meditation on world events, and the poem Dies Irae, the day of wrath)
Domine, exaudi orationem meam.
Hear our prayer, O Lord,
And let our cry come unto thee.
The day of tears,
the day of ashes,
the day trembling seizes us,
clamor meus ad te veniat.
the hand of Cain upon his brother
Memorare, O pie Jesu, Domine,
Clamouring in a wailing of tears,
and blood and pain,
anger and angst,
pain,
the cry of despair,
how our cry comes to thee,
Lacrimosa die alla,
every day,
the day of tears,
ashes,
ex favilla,
dust,
at our hand,
the all too willing tool of darkness.
Miserare nobis.
__________
Notes:
Misarere Nobis - have mercy on us. Part of the Agnus dei - Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Domine, exaudi orationem meam - Lord, hear my prayer from psalm 102
clamor meus ad te veniat. from Psalm 102 Let my cry come unto you
Memorare, O pie Jesu, Domine - Remember, O compasionate Jesus, Lord. A number of prayers start out Memorare, remember. But O pie Jesu, Domine is from the Dies Irae, where the person praying asks Jesus to remember him on that day of wrath.
Lacrimosa die alla - the day of tears. Lifted from the Dies Irae, referring to the grief on the day of judgment
ex favilla, from or out of ashes (also from the Dies Irae, and harkening back to Ash Wednesday, where ashes are worn to remind us of our humanity and mortality, and the need to turn away from our sins and repent)

Lev 16:12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
Lev 16:13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD..........
Father in Heaven, could I write all the praises of which you are worthy?
I worship you.
You have rent the veil so that we may now enter in.
The coals of fire are ever before you in the Holy of Holies, burning, pure, intense.
The incense of our prayers make a fragrance before you.
Let us be like a coal of fire going before you, with incense rising up, always, without ceasing.
You are worthy.
Take us into that Holy Place in Jesus where we will ever be.
We worship You.
Heb 4:16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
..........
Heb 10:19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,
Heb 10:21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
Heb 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Once our blessèd Christ of beauty
Was veiled off from human view;
But through suffering, death and sorrow
He has rent the veil in two.
Refrain
O behold the Man of Sorrows,
O behold Him in plain view;
Lo! He is the mighty Conqueror,
Since He rent the veil in two.
Lo! He is the mighty Conqueror,
Since He rent the veil in two.
Now He is with God the Father,
Interceding there for you;
For He is the mighty conqueror,
Since He rent the veil in two.
Refrain
Holy angels bow before Him,
Men of earth give praises due;
For He is the well belovèd
Since He rent the veil in two.
Refrain
Throughout time and endless ages,
Heights and depths of love so true;
He alone can be the Giver
Since He rent the veil in two.

Thank you for the beautiful verses and hymn to start off the New Year of 2007!
May God shower His choicest blessings on all here in 2007!
A Prayer Request and a praise report...
For little Nikolas, the 3 year old son of a friend at Church, who has RSV, a viral infection that is especially threatening for children with asthma, like Nik.
He has had it for several days, and is still very sick.
He doesn't see the Doctor again until Friday.
Please pray that he will get the help he needs and that the LORD will touch him and heal him.
His Mother has been holding him and sleeping sitting up all this time. He can't breathe well lying down.
The Praise.
I have been concerned about my blood pressure in the last few days, and my Doctor just telelphoned with some recent lab reports(yes she works all hours..) and I was able to talk to her tonight and it was a Relief and Blessing.
The LORD is Good.
Be still and Know that I Am God. Ps 46:10
I Am the LORD that healeth thee. Ex 15:26
Thank you LORD that you hear and answer us. Please do not delay.
Many wait upon your Word to them, and your guiding touch, and your hand to deliver.
We know you hear us when we cry out to you.
You are the Merciful and Faithful God who redeems and restores and cares for all our needs.
We are your people and the sheep of your pasture.
We praise you for your Loving Kindness which is better than Life.
I ask all this with confidence, in Jesus' Wonderful Name.
So be it.

God of my life, to Thee I call;
Afflicted, at Thy feet I fall;
When the great water floods prevail
Leave not my trembling heart to fail!
Friend of the friendless and the saint,
Where should I lodge my deep complaint?
Where but with Thee, Whose open door
Invites the helpless and the poor!
Did ever mourner plead with Thee,
And Thou refuse that mourners plea?
Does not the Word still fixed remain
That none shall seek Thy face in vain?
That were a grief I could not bear,
Didst Thou not hear and answer prayer;
But a prayer hearing, answering God
Supports me under every load.
Fair is the lot thats cast for me!
I have an Advocate with Thee;
They whom the world caresses most,
Have no such privilege to boast.
Poor thou I am, despised, forgot,
Yet God, my God, forgets me not;
And he is safe, and must succeed,
For whom the Lord vouchsafes to plead.
--William Cowper
Prayers for little Nikolas. My 15 month-old grandson has used a nebulizer, when necessary, since he was 9 months old. It made a big difference in handling his asthma.
Thanks for your kindness.
Your grandson can get better as he grows.
My 15 year old son used a nebulizer from age 3 until about 11-12 years old and began to quickly improve.
He is in highschool football and baseball and rarely uses his inhaler.
His marked improvement began with the use of Singulair which is approved for very young children.
I will remember to pray for him and his parents.
I am VERY familiar with the anguish of watching him breathing with difficulty with an upper respiratory infection.
I used to get REAL MAD when I heard of people going around sick just because they felt like it.......
God is Love.
Good news, glad to hear that.
My hands have broken out again and I'm having to use the cream tonight, so can't type much more until it dries. Remind me not to go to the football thread again.
Hope today is the first day of a very Blessed and Joyous New Year for all our Prayer Room FReepers!
Now, if only I could get a diagnosis and get all that stuff! 'Twould rock my world.
"Come, everyone! Clap your hands!
Shout to God with joyful praise!
For the Lord Most High is awesome.
He is the great King of all the earth.
He subdues the nations before us,
Putting our enemies beneath our feet.
He chose the Promised Land as our inheritance,
The proud possession of Jacobs descendants, whom he loves.
God has ascended with a mighty shout.
The Lord has ascended with trumpets blaring.
Sing praises to God, sing praises;
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King over all the earth.
Praise him with a psalm!
God reigns above the nations,
Sitting on his holy throne.
The rulers of the world have gathered together
With the people of the God of Abraham.
For all the kings of the earth belong to God.
He is highly honored everywhere."
Thank You, our Master, for this Time of Blessing, Petition, and Praise. We Honor You for Your Goodness and Your Holy Name. Glory to You, King Jesus, for the Praise Report of Thy Servant. We Stand Together with Bowed Heads and Hearts for Little Nikolas, Asking for Thy Healing Touch. We Pray Thee, Papa-Father, Provide for his Every Need. Strengthen his Dear Mother, and Work Out Thy Wonders in their Lives. Wrap All Thy Children in Heavenly Grace, and be Exalted throughout the Eternities to Come. We Love You, our Shepherd, our God, Praying in Your Son's Name, amen.
Thank you for letting me know about your son's great improvement!
Good words. Praying with you in thanksgiving for your answer, and in hope for Nikolas.
