Finally, some good news. They had to go way back for some of these.

5. Pac-Man (Atari, 1981) I don't agree with this... I played Pac-Man(Atari) for HOURS on end and flipped it(turned the score over) a few dozen times

No way Prince of Persia belongs on that list. True, it had a more adult theme than the previous ones, but being chased by a monstrous, murderous time beast tends to make a person a little irritable, I would say. The only thing was, you had to find every little tiny secret to get the best ending, something you never would do without the help of a walkthrough.

I can see the darn thing in my mind's eye but can't remember the name -- the display looked like an electronic funnel and it involved spinning the track ball so that the player intercept changes coming from the bottom of the funnel before they got to the perimeter. It was interesting for about ten minutes.

Warrior Within's inclusion is ridiculous. I hated the "edgy" elements they felt they had to add, but it was still a solid sequel.

Q-Bert and Quix were pretty pointless IMO. HOwever, I disagree about Smurf rescue on Coleco. I thought that was pretty fun. Dang I'm old.

How can they trash elf bowling, now I can understand if they trash frogger but there's something about knocking over a bunch of dwarfs by hurling a bowling ball at them that always seems to bring a smile to my face.
Hey did anyone see the game where the penguin uses a club to fungo seals?? Bloody and funny as hell.

Anyone want to post their top ten?
Assuming we're including computer games under the umbrella of video games:
Planescape:Torment, Legend of Zelda:Majora's Mask, Crystalis, Super Mario 64, Serpent Isle.
Those are my top five, not sure of what the next five would be... It would probably include Ultima 5 and Knights of The Old Republic II...

custer's revenge shouldnt be on there either!! im surprised they put that one on there and not beat 'em and eat 'em, another classic.

I owned three of those games and they were awful...with the exception of elf bowling. Come on, one of the greatest ever!!

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree with the Atari Pac Man selection. It was so poor compared to the arcade version. I remember all the hype before it came out. It was something like $49.99, which was outrageous then. Very disappointing.
None of the sports games for the 2600 were any good. I also had the Raiders of the Lost Ark game, which kind of blew.
Activision had a few duds, but I loved Pitfall.

The Howard Dean for Iowa Game (2003)
I may get this game just for the hell of it. Maybe it carries some secret message on why they won EVERYTHING on Tuesday.

Dragon Slayer has to be on someone's worst list. For crying out loud, all you were was a box that carried a key or a sword....and that idiotic bat that stole from you....
It's lame by today's standards, but I used to love Yar's Revenge.

Pac-man Atari 2600 was terrible. I played it maybe a couple of teams and never again.
I wore out two controllers over the years, and rolled the counter on Missile Command, an awesome port. Asteroids and Space invaders on the 2600 were also both great.

Where's Black and White? The whole "UI-less" thing sure sounded good in interviews with the designer but when it came time to cast a spell by making an inwardly spiraling square with your cursor instead of the spell that needed an inwardly spiraling circle the idea proved to be downright idiotic. The only really cool part about Black and White was leaving it to run on its own all day then seeing what your monkey had taught itself to do. You know when the best thing to do with a game is to not actually play it you've made a truly terrible game.

Pac Man was not a very good port; far petter ports of Pac Man exist for the 2600, though because of licensing none can be sold (the code can be downloaded and burned into an EPROM, however).
E.T. required reading the manual. If one read the manual, it was a decent game. Not great, but hardly among the worst ten. I can easily come up with ten games worse than E.T.
- Skeet Shoot (Games by Apollo)
- Karate (by Froggo or Ultravision)
- Condor Attack (Ultravision)
- Fire Fly (Mythicon)
- Sorceror (Mythicon)
- Sssnake (Data age)
- Journey Escape (Data Age)
- Basic Math (Atari)
- Flag Capture (Atari)
- Slot Machine (Atari)
Compared with any of those, E.T. or even Pac Man is a work of pure genius.
As for Smurf: RIGC, it's a kid's game. There's not a whole lot there, but it's better than many other games of that style (common overseas; less common here) such as "Bobby Geht Nach Haus" (Bobby Goes Home).
