Hillary is five moves ahead of everyone in this chess game. The time to stop her was the first NY Senate election.

Since I agree with you and don't have a mind that dwells in the gutter, I am not about to make any jokes at all. :-)

IMHO Romney has no chance of getting elected. I don't care what anybody says in public, or this forum. Mormonism will rule him out on a national level at this time. Again, Imho.

I thought the points made re Guiliani were salient and he is much more electable than Romney. Unless and until we conservatives are willing to think, act and gain incrementally, like the left have mastered, we are just going to be mad a lot and out of power more often than not.

They all suck. Newt is the closest to a Reaganite. But you can stuff the rest.

Rudy might be able to finesse these issues with the Republican right if he said social politics should be resolved at the state level and promised to name constructionist judges.

Exactly.

And he will.

NO doubt about it, remember pro-life people, the POTUS is not going to change it, it is a state issue and an issue for the Supreme Court, I would trust Guiliani's reccomendations to the court more than Bush's, Harriet Miers anyone?

Now my ideal candidate would be Mark Levin, but the guy as of right now with the best chance to beat Hillary is RUDY, but I'm open for a charasmatic conservative to step forward, does one exist? Besides me? ;)

Rudy/Romney.

I could go for that. I agree with the poster above who recommended that Rudy get a good sitdown with Club for Growth. Right now, my #1 priority is that my son not grow up in a country where he has to prostrate himself eastward five times a day. I cannot trust the (D)s to prevent that.

Election 08 started today, and we have got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot, like the complacent House and Senate (R)s did this time around.

I think you do need the experience in governing a state...sort of like working your way up a corporation.

It really saddens me that NH is infected with Liberal-itis. I was actually looking to move up there. But with the leftward shift... :( but I digress.

I saw Mitt speak back when he was running for Senate against Teddy in 1994. He is a great speaker.

But if you look at the points I made in my earlier post, he's a lightweight. What has he done?

I'd go with Rudy. I need to learn more about Duncan Hunter, but he looks like he has promise. It's time to look at a good candidate from the House...why not?

What about this idea: Rudy/Duncan with a Zell Miller-type Democrat for VP? I'm serious, by the way...think outside the box.

>>BTW, HRC is not electable, IMO.

I'm not sure that she's unelectable but she would be easier to beat than some other candidates. Although not that well known, Evan Bayh would be very tough to beat.

The most important thing for '08 is to keep the Presidency any way possible and retake the lost Red House seats by running conservatives.

Amen.

"NO NEVER EVER another BUSH. NEVER !"

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

This is because of Rush reporting how happy W is going to be to shove amnesty down our throats with the able assistance of the new dim congress. NEVER AGAIN ANOTHER BUSH IN THE WHITE HOUSE....and yes young George P. this means you.

Where is my Prairie Song
Where is my happy ending
Where have all the cowboys gone

Where is my Marlboro man
Where is his shiny gun
Where is my lonely ranger

And Rudy has already established his "tough guy: bona fides. That's what matters to keep the Islamonazis out of our front yards. They don't much care about the rest of the politically nuanced issues.

Is Ken Mehlman talking (seriously!) with Zell Miller?

Who among us couldn't get behind a Zell-as-moderate-Pubbie campaign?

I agree with you. I want to see Santorum back in office; I can't believe they voted Casey in (oh, I am a PA resident now, i forgot) as he never bothered to articulate himself on any one issue, and still won. Amazing.

I don't think it was the "long" war in Iraq either. I just don't. I think it was Duke Cunningham, Mark Foley, and I hate to say it, but it did not help when Rush made the Fox comment and did the motions on the video. I know what he was saying, but life now is a series of soundbites. And I bet John Kerry has breathed a sigh of relief now that the Dems have won the Senate. Maybe now they will let him out of his room.

How about Santorum as vice-president with Romney? Please, no more Bushes and no more Southern hick good ol' boys with accents, limited brain power, and no communication skills. Two more years of W flailing around abandoning what's left of his miniscule conservative principles is almost more than I can stand.

I've been saying for several years that a Southern governor would be the ideal candidate. I modified this a little bit to allow for a potential George Allen run (he's a former governor), but that option is out the window.

Haley Barbour or Mark Sanford may offer some good odds. I don't know enough about Romney, but I'm not too keen on a candidate from Massachusetts no matter which party he represents.

Rudy Giuliani is out of the question. In fact, other than George Allen he may have been the biggest loser of all yesterday.
