I'm serious, he's behind by 7,000 votes. There is no way a recount will make up that amount of votes. Are there a lot of absentee ballots to be counted or something? I'm really confused about this.
I thought that was Maryland...are you sure on this?
It's a Free Republic vanity blowout!
Get yours today!
I thought about it but, I'm not in to lookin like a *Nancy boy*. I've had plenty of disappointments in life and this is just one more. K SA RA SA RA
Allen isn't doing some recount with a bunch of overpaid lawyers as in Al Gore's case...the recount is available in Virginia when it is so close. Al Gore used hanging chads and other made-up crap, as an excuse.
Vanities are just a cry for help.
:)
You're right. He needs to concede once the three missing precincts are located, if there's no 7,000-vote miracle by that time.
If Drudge last night and Gillespie this morning are both right about transposed figures picked up by the media (one says 4,000 votes, the other something like 1300 votes were affected) from the Virginia SOS office, then it wouldn't be terribly optimistic of Allen to presume that there might be similar transpositions, other *honest* mistakes. And if absentees--at least a good percentage of them--haven't been tallied either, why not give it a shot?
My understanding, based on an interview I heard this morning on Dennis Prager's radio show, is that there are approximately 22,000 mail-in votes yet to be counted.
Ah...if that's true, that makes some sense. I still don't see how he wins that many.
If it does go to court, think of all the fun we can have for the next six years with our new ILLEGITIMATE, SELECTED-NOT-ELECTED Senator!
I heard that on the radio this morning and that is what I understood. Thursday they count absentee ballots, unlike Flordia early counting. Anyway, it may not matter since whatever happens it will be a lawyer's dream.... I guess we wait and see because, no, I don't know for certain. I kind of wrote it off. Time to fight and plan for 2008. Allen ran a Kilgore campaign - terrible ads, terrible timing, and the slur didn't help him. Get some new campaign people PLEASE!

they stole it from him, Webb won with votes reported in the last 0.5% of precincts.

During any Virginia election there are, maybe, 100,000 fradulent democrat votes in inner-city districts. All Allen has to do is find 7,000 of them. I would bet that Santorum actually won or tied in Pennsylvania; but the fraud in Philly and Pittsburg made it appear to be a blowout.
LOL
Unless some information come out that suggests that there is a need for a recount to get an accurate count, I agree that he shouldn't request one.
He should waste the taxpayers money on a pointless recount, or case unnecessary dispersions on the election system simply because the vote didn't go his way.
That way he can say he at least lost with more dignity than Al Gore or John Kerry. Kerry didn't contest the vote here in Ohio directly, he let others do it and waited until later to claim the election was rigged against him despite the fact that there was no evidence to support his claims.
I still haven't forgiven the Libertarian Party Presidential candidate for joining with the Green Party candidate to give them a high enough percentage of the vote to force a recount here in Ohio at the taxpayer expense in 2004.
At under 95% of the vote showing tallied on the VA website and less than half the difference required for a recount, there is no issue in allowing VA to do its due diligence.
Webb can declare whatever he wants, no one is going to certify it.
I watched the totals come in all night. It was astounding to see the lead change at the very end like that. It may be all square but VA went through one of these close races recently and they have the skill to go through it properly again.
but how do you find those illegal votes?
There's still plenty of people on FR blaming Rove. Someone tried to convince me that 2002 and 2004 was in spite of Rove but this year was all Rove's fault. I haven't figured out how that works...
I got from a good source that that is the case.
