Neil Boortz is quoted as saying: "So how did I actually vote when I got that provisional ballot in my hand. Straight Libertarian."
Thank you Neil Boortz. Thanks to you and those who think like you, we now have the Democrats in control of Congress. I hope you and your ilk are very happy.
Free Republic is allegedly a CONSERVATIVE web site. Will you libertarians please go somewhere like Lucianne.com, where you can laugh and smile about how you put the Republicans out of power, and leave Free Republic to the conservatives.
Oh, and one more thing.
Neil Boortz -- GO TO HELL.
Two state inititatives on pot(the Libertarian sacrament) went down to a rousing defeat.
No, simply saying that Burns has himself to blame, not the Libertarians. Are we now supposed to vote for any scumbag with an R next to his name? Is that really what you're saying?
Happy? Why should I be happy. I understood the difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Burns might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he isn't Hitler. Was that happy feeling you all got from throwing him under the bus worth it?
It means the difference between having a rational Supreme Court for the next 30 years or not. I hope it was worth it.
You can even see it on this thread.
One post will tell libertarians or others that don't drink GOP koolaide to go to hell while other posts will demand their votes.
Maybe this election will show that votes are earned not entitlements.
(Isn't that ironic that the GOP would lean on the crutch of entitlement to votes instead of working to earn votes?)
I'll take that as a "Yes". At least I know where you stand.
What sort of spending was in those bills?
Vetoes have limited viability for affecting spending. All the Dems have to do is put a few orphan shelters and food for babies in the budget and then the President Vetoes it and all of the sudden he is starving Children and other blather.
You guys act like the President can just wave a wand and magically big spending will all go away. You forget the MSM and the LibDems. They would make hay over such and all Presidents know that.
Ya want Big spending stopped , first ya need term limits, second you need Congress critters who won't be big spenders.
There is a guy in the House right now, well I hope he made the purge, anyhow I think he is from Utah and was featured on 60 minutes. He stands up on the floor of the house and questions both parties on what all these markups are for. And if he feels they are wasteful he sez so in the record and notes his reasons why then he votes against the bill they are tied to.
Get 50 or 60 like minded guys in the Senate and 250 or more like-minded guys in the House and big spending will all but disappear.
Ditto. :p
Outstanding!
They also complain that libertarians are closer to liberals than they are to conservatives, but they count every vote a Libertarian candidate got as one a Republican would have gotten if there hadn't been a Libertarian to vote for.
More liberal logic...
Get the GOP to grow a spine and they'll win the next set of elections handily. Stop making excuses. They aren't working and appear petty.
"Because of Ls, we lost Montana"
The assumption being that they wold have voted for Bush if there were no Libertarian Party. And the assumption is incorrect. Had they stayed home to protests W's very LIBERAL fiscal policies as well as some LIBERAL social policies, such as NCLB, the outcome would have been precisely the same.
As with Perot, there are plenty of voters who voted third party that would have never voted Dem or GOP. Ever.
But they'll vote for someone else who tells them what they want to hear.
Yet the Dems and GOP treat each vote as something they are entitled to instead of something they have to earn.
The Republicans lost this all by themselves. You might as well blame the phase of the moon as much as the LP.
Libertarian here...
I should add that as I have talked to conservatives over the last few weeks I was astounded that every single one of them brought up that they were voting libertarian. I did NOT bring up the party.
I found it fascinating.
Wake up and pay attention. You and your fellow pubbie whiners are behaving exactly like the Democrats did in 1994: blaming everything under the sun but your own piss-poor performance. Here is what you should be doing:

Hmm OK putting non Big spenders in the House and Senate is liberal logic?
Let me guess next you will tell me that its really good the liberals won because it will prove all your brilliant insights on how Neocon didn't do something you thought they should cuz you read it all in GoPatGo's book.
Yeah, I've met your type before. Of course they usually are on some form meds, and under restraint.
Thanks for your deep insight into how we can stop big spending.
Umm President use pen... veto... yes dat good me beat chest.
This entire thread reminds me of the "Big Tent" discussion. If Republicans define themselves as a small tent (i.e. reserved for religious and so-called "social conservatives") we are doomed in '08. For sure.
Some of the "social conservatives" are hypocritical when it comes to separation of church and state, a fundamental conservative bedrock belief.
Mega ditto!
I confess I spend too much time arguing with dimwits about legalizing drugs and all kinds of destructive behavior.
