The link in this article is to a great thread by our Aussie friend asking how America could be so stupid.
There are a lot of great comments on that thread.
However, I would like this thread to discuss specific things we could do to punish the brats in America for their temper tantrum yesterday.
My brain is still foggy from working until closing as a poll watcher after putting in most of a day's work at my regular job. However, there are specific things I plan to do as follows:
- Downgrade my newspaper subscription to Sunday only. It has most of the coupons and good stuff. Were it not for the fact it has a rather libertarian editorial stance, I'd drop it completely. Despite this stance, it took the asinine editorial position of endorsing "Cut and Run" Murtha over an attractive alternative candidate who might actually have beaten him with a little more support, including financial support from the RNC tinkled away in a worthless attempt to save a worthless candidate like Chaffee in RI.
- Drop local channels (ABC, CBS, NBC) from my cable package. Sure, it cost only $5 per month. But that $5 can better be used supporting Free Republic and military charities like the USO, VFW, DAV, etc. Further, the alphabet media were major enablers in yesterday's tantrum.
- Reviewing carefully any business relationships with companies located in the St. Louis or Kansas City area, enablers of the tantrum in Missouri. One credit card company takes payments in St. Louis. I will cease using their card or pay on-line so as not to support employment in St. Louis.

We canceled the Boston Globe four years ago.
I like the idea of dumping ABC, CBS and NBC. I don't know if it's possible with our cable package, but I'll look into it.

I'm afraid that a lot of church leadership is liberal. So that can be a mixed bag.

I would like to investigate how the "Commerce Clause" of the Constitution restricts NJ's confiscatory sales tax policies:
1. No state has right to tax purchases made with Indian reservations, i.e.: CIGARETTES.
2. No state has the right to levy additional sales tax/use tax on foreign purchases made on the Internet, only the Feds can collect those.
3. Only Congress has the power to tax interstate commerce, read Quill v North Dakota.
Please feel free to respond on thread or FreepMail.

I'm afraid that a lot of church leadership is liberal. So that can be a mixed bag. Find a new church. They should teach the word of God, explain it and how it applies to your (our) lives.

yes, those are the benchmarks as we move into Democrat era: lows in unemployment, high's in market, no terrorist attacks here in 5 years........
let's measure their performance from this point on.

Downgrade my newspaper subscription to Sunday only.
Might I suggest that you cancel completely for simple reason that they did back Murtha? If it had a libertarian slant and still backed Murtha, you may re-think what it means to have a libertarian slant.
As for me, I am thoroughly disappointed with this country. I know war is hard and some times it doesn't go as planned, but if the Dems are able to de-fund things, we will have another generation of vets who will endure the same feelings that the Vietnams vets had to endure. I thought the American people were smart enough to NEVER let that happen again. I guess not. I will be praying daily for our men and women that they still receive the funding and the equipment to finish the job that THEY WANT to finish.

Man, if that cartoon doesn't say EXACTLY what happened in Ohio. Saving it for later use if you don't mind.

The tax cuts that created the boom cannot and will not dissolve immediately. Bush is still commander in chief. Chances are, the economy will still be good and we will still be free from attack on our own soil through 2008.
I see this lame duck Democrat interregnum crew getting a free ride on the backs of the Republicans they are replacing for the next two years--just like "Party Hearty" Bill Clinton got in the 1990s courtesy of Ronald Reagan.

I stopped my subscription to the Quad City Times (our local rag) long ago due to their increasingly liberal slant. They have lately tried to become more 'balanced' by throwing in the occasional Conservative commentary, but they are fooling no one.
May they die a slow death.

That huge jolt you felt last night was America falling off its axis to the left. America officially became socialist last night, just like france. We are now france-west. The huge roar you hear is all the Arabs in the middle east yelling to Al-la-la today for the defeat of Bush. The "oh, my God, what now?" you heard was our brave military folks trying to figure out what is next. I felt it in Vietnam.
Regardless of everyone's opinion, like you, I have mine. Whether yours or mine is correct does not matter, as we each have one and will express it. Mine is: America made a huge mistake last night that we are now going to pay for. Your tax cuts will be gone. You can probably count on higher oil prices as the dims will tax the profits of oil companies, who will of course raise the costs accordingly. Your prices in the stores will cost more as trucks have to burn fuel to bring those to market. Higher prices for food and clothing and beer. Socialist programs will start to come out of the socialist congress. Forget judges being conservative. That dream is gone. Liberal judges will come from the Kennedy, Shoemer crowd. The military will cut and run from the middle east. 3,000 wasted lives for nothing. Iraq and Afghanistan will revert to radicals as their governments will fall without US support. Illegals will continue to come and vote democrat. Everyone who wanted to teach them a lesson will realize too late their mistakes. And lastly, the republicans have only themselves to blame. Just a few short years ago, the talk was of how the republican were going to govern for the next 20 years or so. Not! Spending, waste, abuse, fraud, homosexual crap, Delay's problems, refusal to put up a fight on the border, spending, spending and more spending. And yes, George W. Bush made a lot of mistakes. Too much and too pissed off at the moment to try to make a list. But, in the end, conservatives are now firmly back in the minority. The so called middle and the left rule. Enjoy socialism, and Hillarycare in the future. Yesterday morning I told my wife that we were going to get our butts handed to us in this election. This morning she said simply, well you were right.

Downgrade my newspaper subscription to Sunday only. Can't do that. The only reason I subscribe to the newspaper is for local news. (news, events, obituaries, letter-to-the-editor, business) All the national and world stuff I get better and faster via the web, but there isn't a good source of in-depth local news in my community except for the newspaper. The local TV station's newscasts and websites are a joke.
