Yeah Bob wasn't Presidential material, but what a great American. A true Horatio Alger, who sadly put working definition to the "Peter Principle".

You're kidding, right? I could start typing the long laundry list of big government programs the present compassionate "conservatives" brought us, but why bother.

Just name me one government program that was eliminated by our fellow "conservatives" over the last 6 years?

BTW, I've read many studies on government spending over the last six years, and they show the war does not even come close to accounting for all the spending increases. Studies can be wrong, but my personal reckoning of government expansions versus government reductions tells me the studies are right.

Just a personal aside. My father, also a WWII vet, still living by the way, was so pleased that as the South Dakota Republican State Chairman got to cast all of South Dakotas votes for Bob at the nominating convention.

Link??

I'm looking, but it was a comment on Fox News. It wasn't an official press conference. Fox News said Tony Snow stated President Bush saw this as an opportunity to renew work on "comprehensive immigration reform."

As you know, the House actually took the conservative approach on the issue. President Bush will now likely get the reform (aka amnesty) he wants.

No programs have been eliminated.

I am not kidding.

Spending would have increased much more under democratic leadership and now you will get to see what you don't seem to believe.

Homeland security is a huge chunk of change. Combined with Iraq and AFghanistan they are huge portions of our budget increases.

Christians got hammered on faith based funding in order to meet strict funding targets for the White House. That happened on many programs. The White House gradually reduced spending increases.

You can thank Michelle Malkin, Rich Lowery, Bill Kristol and idiots like that for constantly harping on the GOP, thus some voters felt the donks would be better. It is going to be a nightmare now.

I agree with you. Their incessant complaining, without perspective or more importantly, a grip on national opinion, has been irresponsible as a service to the cause. Positions divorced from political reality seldom do more than what we saw tonight...lead to defeat.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying I think the Dems will give us smaller government? Not a chance...NOT A CHANCE. But certainly you'd agree the Republicans haven't exactly reduced government either, right? Personally, I'd like to vote for something other than BAD or WORSE!

"...the fact that we haven't won in Iraq...

Actually, we did win in Iraq. We just didn't come marching home.

We stayed to protect Iraqi's from criminals.

Hey, California elected Jerry Brown Attorney General, he has been Mayor of Oakland for the last 8 years, there have been 772 murders in Oakland during his time in office.

Maybe our troups should have been patrolling Oakland since sadamn fell?

He never wanted amnesty, but, hey, if that lie works for you, take your best shot.

It works for the Democrats, too.

"The Reagan Revolution is dead. Time for new leadership, but I see none on the horizon."

I think Gingrich is the most effective person to speak about what the future challenges may be. And he is probably willing.

Not Allen, not Frist. Guiliani and McCain may run, but will face hard times against a GOOD conservative, th primaries.

I like Gingrich-Romney.

Personally, I'd like to be able to eat a bag of mini Almond Joys a day and get something other than fat and dumpy ... my choice is only one mini Almond Joy a day or none ... I call that BAD or WORSE. I also call it a grown-up's reality.

Too bad more Republican/Conservatives can't grasp the concept.

I know a few folks that didnt vote today...some FRs too. I voted because of my fear of what the RATS will do when in power....not for the job the elected Republicans were doing. This has to be the most worthless bunch ever in the House and Senate. Put the blame where it belongs.....
