Yep and perhaps Leahy in charge of the Judiciary. Stevens is retiring and Bader-Ginsberg is ill. Bush 43 will get blamed for less than conservative justices.

However, in terms of policy at least, the American people have spoken The American people, as a group, are nearly totally ignorant, poorly informed, and dangerously politically indifferent.
The old media won yesterday.
And the country died a lot more.
There is lots of work to do in the future to make things right. I just am not sure where to start. The citizens are just too ignorant, irrational and reactionary. And, that seems to be a conscious plan of the publik skoolz.
****
By the way, thanks for that great post from Captainsquarter.

In looking over the current bleak political landscape for some optimism, I cling to the fact that President Bush has the power to VETO for the next 2 years. Any Dem effort to undercut our troops and the war on terror, I pray, will be vetoed. Our brave troops and the war on terror are my greatest concerns.
I refuse to let the sounds of pundits and journalists enter my home. I'm sick of them all and their biased "reporting" and shallow treatment of the issues facing this nation, this world, and humankind as a GAME.Turning off the TV programs w/them on will save my sanity and my electricity bill.
The time gained for reflection will soften my despair, give me some historical perspective, and strengthen me to continue believing that God and His Infinite Wisdom will prevail.

Vern Buchanan (FL), who ran for the Katherine Harris seat, is headed for a recount. Went to bed last night thinking he won.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..............
Crist (R) won FL governorship.
I cannot figure out why the Bushes and the RNC did not support Harris. I agree that she should have waited, but I'm not happy with leadership......AT ALL!

There will be a press conference by Bush at 1 PM. Here's a squib about it. Pretty subdued from Tony Snow:
President George W. Bush, disappointed at the Democrats' seizure of the House of Representatives, will hold a news conference on Wednesday to urge his opponents to work with him, the White House said. The news conference was set for 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT) in the White House East Room.
"He'll start by congratulating the winners and extend a hand for bipartisan cooperation to work on the issues facing our country. The elections are over but the issues still remain," said White House counselor Dan Bartlett.
White House spokesman Tony Snow said the outcome of the elections, in which Democrats were projected to win control of the House and pick up several Senate seats, was "not what we would've hoped."
"But it also gets us to a point: Democrats have spent a lot of time complaining about what the president has done. This is an opportunity for them to kind of stand up," Snow said.
I submit the democrats do intend to stand up. And try their best to run this country and freedom straight into the ground.

Precisely the reason democrats will try to do away with the electoral college... the big city votes can carry the day.

I know. Hillary will certainly be behind that move. She spoke up to get rid of it years ago.
Dangerous times ahead.
