Incensed by the neutralization of Dec. 25 to bland terms like “holiday,” Lynnfield brothers Robert and Kevin Marley are planning pickets in front of malls and any other store that refuses to display or utter the words “Merry Christmas” for fear of offending non-Christian shoppers.

Great! Sign me up for a picket.

We should say "Happy Holiday!" at Halloween, etc. Get people thinking.

TODAY IS NOVEMBER 6. IF ANYONE SAYS "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" TO ME, I WILL PINCH THE BABY AND MAKE HIM SPIT ON THEM!!!

And may I wish you a very somber Veterans' Day, just a little early?

Christmas,” Marley lamented, “is under attack. This year, I will not shop in any store that does not display the words Merry Christmas. Christmas holds a special place in everybody’s heart who celebrates it. To each their own. It’s that simple.”

Doesn't it strike him as ironic that Christmas has become a holiday hijacked by retailers & signified by over-consumption -- and he's complaining because a few stores don't say "Merry Christmas"? Get a grip.

I get many catalogues in the mail at this time of year. If the thing is full of Christmas decorations but is designated something like "Holiday 2006", I call the company to let them know that they have insulted my religious beliefs.

I now live in a small town, and last year I made it a point to call local merchants who advertised Christmas items in the local newspaper but refused to use the word "Christmas". If they gave me the line about not wanting to offend anyone, I would tell them that they had offended me. I also reminded them that people who don't believe in Christmas are not going to be buying Christmas trees, wreaths, etc.
