Good Christians dont always turn the other cheek, as a holly, jolly insurgency called the Committee to Save Christmas is about to show corporate America.
Incensed by the neutralization of Dec. 25 to bland terms like holiday, Lynnfield brothers Robert and Kevin Marley are planning pickets in front of malls and any other store that refuses to display or utter the words Merry Christmas for fear of offending non-Christian shoppers.
The brothers are putting together a Web site to recruit supporters with an eye toward launching their boycott on Nov. 24 - the day after Thanksgiving.
Were taking back Christmas, Robert Marley, 48 - no relation to Scrooges late business partner Jacob Marley - told the Herald.
In five years, I fear therell be no Christmas, said Marley, a self-made developer. This is America. When you come to America, you come here because of what it offers you. Dont come to this country and try to change things to suit you.
Marley, who is Catholic and a father of four children, said he doesnt care if stores want to wish shoppers Happy Kwanzaa or hang the Star of David.
This isnt about putting up one and not the other, but dont take down ours. Its insane, he said of political correctness. Someone has to take a stand. Were going to get tolerated right into hell.
Frances Foley, 52, of Worcester, seemingly agreed yesterday as she strolled through Downtown Crossing in Boston with her daughter.
Keep the Christ in Christmas, Foley said.
Shopper Russell Smith, 40, of Boston, said, It seems illogical to redefine a holiday. Either say nothing or say, Merry Christmas.
Christmas, Marley lamented, is under attack. This year, I will not shop in any store that does not display the words Merry Christmas. Christmas holds a special place in everybodys heart who celebrates it. To each their own. Its that simple.
Great! Sign me up for a picket.
We should say "Happy Holiday!" at Halloween, etc. Get people thinking.
Looked at boxes of Christmas cards at a store yesterday. Oh
excuse, me hhhhhhhhhhhhhholiday cards (Howie Carr talks
every year about taking the C-word out of Christmas and he
always pronounces "holiday" that way... :) ) Let's see,
no "C"-word...no "C"-word...OK, not buying 'em here...
TODAY IS NOVEMBER 6. IF ANYONE SAYS "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" TO ME, I WILL PINCH THE BABY AND MAKE HIM SPIT ON THEM!!!
And may I wish you a very somber Veterans' Day, just a little early?
In this PC culture, it'll be a rare day for anyone to say Merry Christmas to you (cashiers at stores are told
to say Happy Holidays...)
As for Veteran's Day for too many people it's a day off
from work and they don't think about what it really means
(same for Memorial Day)
Doesn't it strike him as ironic that Christmas has become a holiday hijacked by retailers & signified by over-consumption -- and he's complaining because a few stores don't say "Merry Christmas"? Get a grip.
Good, because although I will not use the Heavy Artillery once December arrives, I will look blankly at them and say, "What, it's Christmas already?" until about December 20. (I'm not a total stickler ...)
Cashiers at stores are told to say Happy Holidays...
"And a terrific Armistice Day to you, too, dear! We like to eat popcorn and watch 'The Lost Battalion' on DVD every year. "
"Happy Thanksgiving!"
"Oh, that's right, it's Immaculate Conception! Will I see you at church this evening?"
I know, I know, it's supposed to be a big symbolic thing, but Christmas has a *date*, and it's not November 6!

Church upset at Christ-free postage stamps
I also know that it's foisted upon us earlier and earlier every year (including all-Christmas, er, all-HOLIDAY)
radio stations but when the time comes I will celebrate it and use the C word...
Maybe so but the way things are going people will start thinking it's a holiday to celebrate the birth of...Santa...
Me, too. But not in November :-). And one reason we got the satellite radio was to avoid the Holiday music.
I have a CD of traditional Thanksgiving music, which I will begin playing around the 20th.
I get many catalogues in the mail at this time of year. If the thing is full of Christmas decorations but is designated something like "Holiday 2006", I call the company to let them know that they have insulted my religious beliefs.
I now live in a small town, and last year I made it a point to call local merchants who advertised Christmas items in the local newspaper but refused to use the word "Christmas". If they gave me the line about not wanting to offend anyone, I would tell them that they had offended me. I also reminded them that people who don't believe in Christmas are not going to be buying Christmas trees, wreaths, etc.

Good for you, BR. We Christians are under attack, which would be a shame for this country since we believe in morality. The lack of Christ in Christmas is just another way for the commies to take over.
I ALWAYS wish clerks a Merry Christmas, and i'm surprised how many give me a big smile when I do.
I ALWAYS wish clerks a Merry Christmas....

I do this, as well, even when they say, "Have a nice holiday!"
Also, I am Catholic, and, therefore, when I pray I always start with The Sign of the Cross (In the Name of the Father, etc.), which involves using one's hands. There was a time that I would skip the Sign when saying grace before meals in public so as to be subtle. Ever since the islamofascist threat became apparent, I make sure there is nothing subtle about it.

Well, with even Hitlery PRETENDING to pray, we really SHOULD let people know that we DO pray.
