"Until death do us part"

Indeed. And with the diseases he probably exposed her to, it may just end that way.

I prefer neither.

When the cult of personality is more important than Jesus Christ, well, then such things happen.

I much prefer our Church. The Word and the Liturgy mean much more than the human being that brings them to the people.

The wife wrote that before the true weight of hubby's behavior hit her. Let's see what hasn't been mentioned. How about: Male prostitue + methamphetamines +Gay husband trysts...sounds like reason enough for HIV testing to me.

Actually, I agree with God on this one in that the two should stay together based upon their vow and work it out. If they separate, they are required to stay single or reconcile, according to God in 1 Cor. 7:10-11.

As for imitating Christ, Jesus did give a reason for divorce: adultery. (See Matthew 5:32)

So, actually, according to Jesus Himself, Mrs. Haggard does have grounds to leave her husband.

This is something she will have to decide. But she does have Scriptural support to do so, if she chooses to leave.

I feel sorry for the children too. Sad situation.

God wanted no divorce and it was that way in the beginning.

Also, when one has already committed adultery, of course that is a cause for divorce. Think of the one couple in the New Testament who was to divorce. Who was it? Joseph was going to divorce Mary when he found she was with child. But they weren't married yet! They were only betrothed. And he would have followed what Jesus Himself said by divorcing. For all we know, this concept of divorce was not for those fully married, as those women found out on their wedding night to not be a virgin were allowed to be put to death, as per Lev. 20.

Read Mark 10, Luke 16, 1 Cor. 7 for further insights.

I didn't say God was fond of divorce.

I just gave the Scripture reference for what Jesus Himself said about it. Mrs. Haggard does have Scriptural grounds to leave her husband if she chooses. That's the only point I was making.

Marriage is a very solemn and sacred joining of two people (man and woman). This is a sad situation for the Haggard family, and my heart goes out to them.

I find it refreshing to have people acknowledge their sins even if he had to be pushed a little.....

contrast that with my own Catholic Church, who thru ignorance or nievity or evil, kept passing homosexual priest from Church to Church, thinking nothing of it.....

for Haggard, the proof will be in the pudding.....not only should he confess his sins, but he should STOP sinning.....that's the tricky part.....

Personally, I find these allegations "convenient" right before election time....

Oh so God wants her to stay with him even though he has endangered her life?

I am glad you agree with God, even though you have no idea what God actually has to say about it. Matthew 19:9 "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery, and who ever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.

What this man did was sexually immoral. According to Christ, she has grounds to divorce him. Cased closed.

Yes, I would not label him hypocrite.

When the governor of NJ was exposed, many in the media declared him "brave" and he has even been making book tours.

Unfortunately, we are held to our vows. That means, regardless of what anyone else does, we must keep them.

When someone makes a vow with God, it is usually "in addition" to what was expected of us. Case in point, vows of celibacy or vows of poverty. God never says we must do either, but when we do, we are held to them until death.

If someone vowed with God, "Until death do us part", then that is precisely what must be done.

Very Sad story....
Unforunately a very commom problem for so many people.
Our society has made sex the dominant factor in movies, on the Internet in Advertising everywhere, and what do we have now a days but Child Molesting running rampant, many couples seperating or divorcing because of sexual immorality.

The values we once had as a nation are gone and this is the result...

I believe many women who love the lord more than thier spouse usually are more forgiving to husbands with the exception of abuse verbally or mentally.

Mel Gibson's wife has put up with her husband's habitual drinking problem for years...

Your statement borders on madness. Your obviously an individual who has never had to endure repeated beatings by a wacko spouse.

Drinking is not the same thing as having homosexual sex and then exposing his wife to a disease that can potentially kill her. I would definitely call that abuse. And again, read my post concerning what Christ has to say about adultery.

Laughing teeth, why should we listen to you? Everything you say is a joke.

Don't marry a wacko spouse and that won't happen. Look for someone with character and godliness while encouraging such attributes in yourself and your loved ones.

But, you are a self-admitted joke waiting to happen, so I don't expect you even care.

Go annoy someone else.

I am not dis-agreeing with you here...All I am saying is that Adultery is a forgiveable sin and if he is truly willing to change, seek help and of course be tested for any sexually transmitted disease then I would say thier is hope for them..

I find it far more trajic that the Govenor of NJ left his wife and children to live out a homosexual lifestyle he feels he needs to live. If the govenor loved the lord more than himself he would of did whatever he could to heal himself, his family and try to be a decent husband.
