Wow. Hard to believe that this is the largest single collection of my works and thoughts. (Anyone know an easy way to pull an archive copy of all my posts?)
Think about it, how many forums are worth 50,000 posts?
No other ones in my estimation!
Thanks to Jim for building this virtual house, and turning it into a home for so many of us.
I'd also like to thank everyone who has invited me into their studies, offices, living rooms, bedrooms, and cubicles. You are all people I would like to meet some day, those of you who have agreed with me, and especially those who have disagreed with me.
The civil discourse, reasoned responses, Richter scale sarcasm, humor, and irony available on FreeRepublic is without peer. I feel like I've gotten a college level education in darn near everything!
There is always a FReeper somewhere who knows the inside scoop on anything, and is willing to share what they can about any given topic. It is so refreshing to be pulled up short on an incorrect concept by someone who actually has experience, not just book larnin', and can explain the facts of the matter in a clear, concise, and (usually) respectful manner.
You are all responsible for major changes in my understanding of, and attitudes towards, much of what I see in the world. It hasn't always been smooth transitions, and the road has been awfully bumpy in places, but it as always been worth the trip. Not a bad journey for a fat old fart...
50,000 is all you got ??
:0)
It's mindblowing! Of course, I've been here since 1998. So if you figure over an eight year period....IT'S STILL A FREAKIN LOT OF POSTS!!!!
This is a little sobering. Maybe I'm not getting out enough.
/grin
'The Grid' can be knocked out...
Jeez, I've got some catching up to do. 146/20,707 here.
Well, that's 20,708.
Even after so many years, I'm at just 103 threads and 12,073 replies.
In the upper right-hand corner of the 'Latest Posts' page is the word "More". Click on that.
Still a small potatoe here...
You've posted a total of 17 threads and 5,690 replies.
I'm guessing most of the threads were polls and Thomas Sowell articles. I regret nothing.
I got it.
Thank you for walking me thru this.
It was a big help.
By the way, I don't even want to hazard a guess about Howlin's numbers.
I've used about 8 or so keyboards, at various locations. Only wore out one...
Yay for you AND Jim Rob! What a wonderful way to celebrate FreeRepublic!!
Thank you for your help.
That tip worked well.
Naaahhhhh, nobody wants to hire a fat old guy. I'm starting my own company, I am.
I'm closing in on 20,000 posts.
Being a freeper is the perfect way to keep one's mind nimble and one's body overweight.
I've loved every minute of the eight years.

'The Grid' can be knocked out...And I move that you don't know what you're talking about; you don't know the inherent relaibility gained by the utilization of the grid topology, and furthermore, it is the continued and wilful ignorance of system operators whether through overlooking of maintenance issues (like tree-trimming or setting of protective relays) and errors in the real-time operation of those systems that lead to collapase.
The 2003 Blackout REALLY showed up what operating a system 'blind' on a hot day can do in conjunction with lax preventative maintenance on the vitally important transmission/intertie systems (read that as 'lines').
Have you forgotten all that in your lust for postus maximus?
Hey, Dan Quayle! Good to see you!
