The band's spokesperson confirms to entertainment news website TMZ.com, that Wolfgang, known as "Wolfie," has already joined his dad and uncle for rehearsals in the studio.
Rock group Van Halen has named Eddie Van Halen's 15-year-old son Wolfgang as the new bassist for the band.
Wolfgang's mother is former One Day At A Time star Valerie Bertinelli and he is the nephew of the band's drummer Alex Van Halen.
He will replace longtime bassist Michael Anthony, who left the band earlier this year.
The band's spokesperson Janie Liszewski confirms to entertainment news website TMZ.com, that Wolfgang, known as "Wolfie," has already joined his dad and uncle for rehearsals in the studio.
He played dates with his father during the band's 2004 tour, and the song "316" on 1991's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge was named for his birthdate that same year.
The band is still without a lead singer, despite rumors that David Lee Roth might re-join the rockers.
I would have been wrong.
Never would have imagined a family affair.
Which one?
The VH brothers must really hate Diamond Dave - a reunion tour would be pretty well received.
The tongue cancer has made Eddie virtually absent from the television radio set ... they need DLR to promote and show a personality of the band. Now more than ever.
I had heard Eddie was on the straight and narrow early on but he got caught up in the bad stuff later. Based on the results he looked probably paler than most dead people and it probably cost him his marriage.
Really hated to see that. And a friend in music told of a bad accounting of seeing Eddie focused on obtaining that white powder.
Plus, all those packs of Marlb Reds hasn't helped much...
Who looks worse these days? Eddie or Keith?
Seems like a long name to me. Why not just Bill or George?
Is that a pack of Trojans in his hand?
There you go again, bringing back idyllic memories of me scribbling the VH logo on my middle-school desk and homework folders.
I'm a bit younger than you I think and guys when I was middle and high school carved that VH symbol into their notebooks too. You're not the only one :)
His father was a great guitariest, IMO, and he'll do fine. He's got a great teacher.
A legandary band trying to hang on...if they go back with Roth then you know its all bout $$$ but then again what isnt?
All they need now is a genuine lead singer. Bring back David Lee Roth!
Is that a pack of Trojans in his hand?
Might be but he probably thinks it's a guitar pick.
