Evangelist admits meth, massage, no sex

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Evangelist Ted Haggard admitted Friday that he bought methamphetamine and received a massage from a gay prostitute who claims he was paid for drug-fueled trysts by the outspoken gay marriage opponent.
Haggard resigned as president of the National Association of Evangelicals and step down as leader of his Colorado megachurch while the two groups investigate the allegations.
He denied the sex allegations but told reporters outside his home that he did buy the meth because he was curious, but he said he threw it away.
"I bought it for myself but never used it," he said. "I was tempted, but I never used it."
Haggard, 50, said he never had sex with Mike Jones, a 49-year-old male prostitute who sparked the scandals when he told a radio station he had had a three-year sexual relationship with the minister.
Haggard said he did get a massage from Jones after being referred to him by a Denver hotel.
"Well, you've got to hand it to this gay prostitute."
Sounds to me like the prostitute was "handing it" to Haggard.
I didn't inhale......
Oh I know it can be a 1 hit addiction.. but its main enticement is enhancing sex... at least to get you started... It apparently works on the same receptors in the brain etc....
Of course, take it enough and you can't have sex anymore cause nothing will work.. but like I said, that's another story.
Sadly this guys story is not unique.... Addiction is never pretty, regardless of what it is... but some are uglier than others.
despicable that this poor man and his family are being dragged through the mud by the RATS and MSM at the most difficult time of their lives. Everyone has failings. Rev Haggard is not a politician and is not running for anything. This should NOT be news. It's a private matter. The head of the National Association of Evangelicals buying meth and hiring gay prostitutes isn't news? Come on. This is not a private man. He is, by his own design, a public figure. This is news.
No conflict there, since no one is claiming he wanted to marry the dude.
**eyeroll**
Huh, wha? He put himself in the mud.I don't see anyone saying anything about his family except that they would pray for them.
And it's not a private matter when a minster of thousands purposely misrepresents himself and deceives his church and the White house
And if this was an equivalent religious figure associated with left-wing social-issue causes not a soul on here would be claiming it was a private matter.
Meth and a massage, but no sex.
Reminds me of ...
"Okay, we'll take the Chinks and the N****s, but NO Irish!"
Can't we just request
this guy to do snake handling --
If rattlers bite him
he's lying and if
they just squirm around and hiss
he's still good with God . . .

Who cares?
Probably everyone involved. Liars lie. That's what they do.
Did you mean who was the catcher and who was the pitcher?
So he didn't inhale OR swallow.
Union rules. That's the masseuse's job.
SMELLS LIKE A SET-UP, TO ME.
I could give a rat's patoot about the massage, but the meth-addicted homo hooker's got piles of motive to try and take Haggard down.
Think about it: a homo hooker suddenly figures out who that guy was that he gave the massage to; Mr. Anti-Gay-Marriage of Colorado. You think he's not going to try and leverage the facts into something big enough to destroy the guy? This is the homosexual agenda against their arch-enemy; the Christian right, and you don't think they're going to try and make all the hay they can with this; they're NOT going to pass up this opportunity to capitalize on Haggard's minor misjudgements in an effort to take him out? If you don't think that's what's going on, here, I've got a famous bridge in California that I'd like to sell to you.
Haggard gets a massage. Big deal; people get massages every day. It means nothing. Haggard buys some meth. Okay, really stupid move; lapse in judgement, but he says he kept thinking it over and finally just pitched it, so he ended up making the right choice there.
If you look at this on its face, here's ALL this whole thing amounts to: big-name anti-gay-marriage Evangelist admits to struggling with temptation to use meth, but, in the end, he doesn't succumb.
THAT'S IT! THAT'S ALL THIS IS!!
And yet, here some of you are, ready to take this guy and throw him under the bus ON THE OBVIOUSLY EMBELLISHED TESTIMONY OF A METH-ADDICTED HOMO PROSTITUTE!
You're doing the SAME THING the Left does to Bush, and to Cheney, and to Rove, every single day. YOU'RE guilty of the same brand of vile, ill-founded, speculative gutter-sniping that is the hallmark and stock-in-trade of Al Franken, Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan -- purveyors of the worst of the mendacious and screeching accusations.
The thinly veiled glee of some on this thread is nauseateing; I'm disgusted at having to share my planet with you.
No one buys dope, throws it away, and then buys more. No one. The massage is also very suspect.
Most likely they're both lying, and the preacher is a CINO. Any real Christian would have quit his public position as soon as he succumbed to temptation.
I'm sorry, I just cannot imagine in my wildest dreams that he's innocent of everything. Buying meth and no using? Right.
Smokers, trying to quit, have been known to do exactly this.
Ho-hum. A church leader is accused of being a cynic! a hypocrite! So surprising! Human nature, fails again!
And here I thought the Dems wanted to court the evangelical vote? They're going to be so devastated by the shame and ridicule that they'll stay home and not vote? I understand that they want evangelicals to be embarrassed, but why, just before the election?
What does the left expect out of their little sideshow, can someone explain?
