Yes, I put the batteries in the remote.
My t.v. remote is on the left and the new one is one the right and those are the cords.
Are your tuning your TV to "line in" instead of channel 3? You'll probably need to.
Is your TV switched to video or video disk (VTP) setting?
Do you have a s-video cable? If so try that...
There is probably a button on your tv remote named "Input". Turn everything on and press that button.

Keep tuning your tv channel down 5, 4, 3, 2, below that there should be a channel marked Input 1 and maybe also input 2.
You won't see a thing until you're tuned to one of those.
The remote for the TV will have a way to change the input to something like AV1 AV The set of five with red white rellow green red is composet your not using that setting.
I definitely sympathize, MotleyGirl. You may want to do what I did... called the cable guy to come and hook ours up! (I'm not kidding)

Thanks for all your help last night and I now have my DVD working. I pressed the TV/Video button on my tv remote and it worked :)
