Here's the deal with pictures:
I'm trying to hook up a DVD player to my little t.v.
That's it. I followed the directions and nothing is happening.
There are yellow, white and red cords and I put them in the holes and nothing happens. Two hours and I still get nothing. FReeper help needed...please.
waiting for your answer to #17
If the TV does not have "plug in" like the one in position 9 on the DVD player. Then what you need is a A/B switch.
How old is the TV?
This is what I have so far...updated
If all fails, take everything to Best Buy tomorrow and say, "OK - SHOW ME!!"

Take a closer picture of the back of each component
I swear, it's something so simple I'm not doing.
I'll figure it out before I got to bed tonight if it kills me ;)
Somewhere on your dvd player's remote should be a setup button.
For you? ...will this help?
yes... it will help. Don't worry I or someone will get yeah going even if I have to draw you a diagram :-)
The setup button: can possibly change broadcast channels or change broadcast systems NTSC, PAL, SECAM, if so, make sure it's set to NTSC. The same as your TV broadcast system.
Keep tuning your tv channel down 5, 4, 3, 2, below that there should be a channel marked Input 1 and maybe also input 2.
You won't see a thing until you're tuned to one of those.
The remote for the TV will have a way to change the input to something like AV1 AV The set of five with red white rellow green red is composet your not using that setting.
Find an empty channel number on your tv and then scan all the broadcasts coming into your tv, as Petronski said.
Ok your plugs are in the correct places on both devices. (I wanted to make sure they were right)
I see that your TV has a S-Cable connection as well as the DVD player. The simplest way is to buy a Super S-Cable and use it for a direct connection between the 2 in the future.
Now tell me the model number of the DVD player.
LOL - I know the feeling. Take heart that if it kills you doing it, at least you have one more hour to die due to daylight savings.
It's a total cheapie! $100
You're plugged into Video 1. You're going to have to figure out how to get to Video 1 on your TV. Think of it like FM/AM bands on a radio. You watch TV on the FM band. You have to switch to the AM band to watch DVDs. There will be a button on the controller to do this. It will probably be called Video or Input. If that fails, look for any buttons on the front of the TV. One of them should switch "bands" for you.
Once you get this sorted out, ask at Best Buy for a "component cable." It will go in the green/blue/red slot and will give you a better picture.
