Satan is busy checking the R.S.V.P. list and deciding what costume to wear to the big event. Every detail must be perfect for the prince of darkness. But even Satan can't foresee everything. The comedy business is not a guarantee. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. No comedian gets the same laughter for every single joke. I didn't ~love~ this episode, but I bet it wouldn't get better if they listened to people who make detailed lists of complaints :~)
I liked seeing Steve... :~)
So what did you think of the Catholic priests having little boys on leashes?
Simpsons did it!
How could Butters afford it? That's easy.
"**ity Airlines, can I take yo olda prease?"
On the other hand, how was Baby Smalls (?) able to get his gun on the plane?
It's inconsistencies like these that simply ruin the show for me! : )
I wasn't amused by the leash bit. I'll admit I may be biased because I'm Catholic but my main objection is that I thought SP already did a good job with Red Hot Catholic Love on the failure of the Church to police itself.
This was a very odd episode -- I thought 2/3 rds of it was very funny: biggie/butters storyline, the Satan as a 16-year old spoiled girl having party storyline and the better parts of the LA Archdiocese story (e.g. planning to call the fire marshal) and 1/3 was either just plain unfunny or had already been done better in RHCL: three stooges storyline, leashed boys/general Catholic bashing.
Still SP's average is pretty good this season -- my favorite episode for all of season 10 remains Tsst with Cartoon Wars and Mystery of the Urinal Deuce close seconds.
Normally, I'd be offended, but it's Mahony... probably accurate. The man has been trying to crash Satan's party for decades. It's hard to call someone anti-Catholic when he is dead on.
I REALLY enjoyed this episode. In case any of you missed the reference, they were ripping on that stupid Super Sweet 16 MTV show. The show's premise is about uber rich teenagers spending LARGE amounts of cash on their 16th birthday and being unapologetically bitchy and snobby in the process.
The funny thing about it was that a co-worker and I were watching that damn show on the lobby of a hotel prior to that night's SP episode. I called my wife and was telling her about it , saying things like " I feel bad for humanity" and " why do parents LET their children become this way?"
And Matt and Trent surprised me with a great thrashing of the show. I could see how some of you wouldn't enjoy this as much without 1st seeing super sweet 16, but it was on target. I couldn't stop laughing.
