Ok Seriously.
I've never been a fan of the guy, but wow did Rogers look sharp tonight. 7 2/3, 0 runs, 8K. He really had something to prove tonight and did he ever.
A-Fraud AKA Mr March, went 0-3 and is batting .125 for the series.
Watching the Yankees lose NEVER GETS OLD!
We still have to pay Clement don't we? Grrrrr.
What's their worst, overspent baggage?
[David Ortiz was a Mariner]
I'd be scared of Minnesota next year if they stay healthy.
With the damage his shoulder had I will give him a pass. The payout sucks but the feedback I have heard about him is that he is a really solid guy.
rEntEria is another matter...
They need a ballpark. Liriano: Greatest name you've never heard.
Now, with another bad disc, at his age....hard to come back from that.
(Crickets, Crickets)
I've added Detroit to the list. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp6iaEQssRE
Theo has quickly found out how long a World Series honeymoon lasts.
He was equal to Griffey in turning this city into a baseball town. When he was creatively wild throwing 98-99 mph he was a joy to behold.
Then he spent a weekend with Nolan Ryan, got his control, and got out of town.
The Yankees are down to their last 27 ... 24 ... 21 ... 18 ... 15 ... 12 .... 9 .... 6 ... 3 ... 2 .... 1 ... wait until next year.
Clement didn't work out for them so I would say that would be the most expensive signing. Manny is a HOF player who is overpaid but when he signed in 2001 he was market value. Ortiz is the top clutch hitter in baseball.
2007 Expiring Contracts: ($millions)
Schilling $14
Clement $9.5
Foulke $5.25
Lowell $9
2008 Expiring:
Manny $19
Tek $10
Renteria $4 (dead money charge)
expect in 2009 them to be $100 million or so
2-0 Mets, top of 1st
It'd be nice if Foulke could even come close to his 2004 form.
"I think he's worth more than the Marlins franchise."
He COSTS more than the Marlins...there's a difference.
I didn't expect much of a fight from the Dodgers tonight.
LOL. Good point.
3-0...Billingsley warming up in bullpen for LAD
I blame Henry for all this. He allowed a problem to develop between his CEO and his GM that resulted in the GM walking. They made a horrible trade for Josh Beckett with Lucchino making the call.
Don't forget that Theo got us Mueller, Millar, Ortiz, Todd Walker, Bellhorn (2005 was a mistake), Timlin and Schilling. He has picked up value players who helped make a winner. He fell down on Renteria and Clement but signing free agents is always a bad gamble.
Where he has failed is in drafting players that can come to the major leagues. He has had 4 drafts to show for his trouble and he has no position players in the minors worth a damn.
