Some can be debated. But Miles Davis' Birth of the Cool, Brubeck's Take 5 and Dylan's Highway 61 are top 3 in my book.

This guy sure likes some crappy music (with just a few exceptions)

Totally agree about Brubeck's Take Five. And how could they do this list without the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin?

Silly list. Way too British.
So many durable people and groups missing.
What about Van Morrison, BB King, Ray Charles, Buddy Holly, Santana, Doors, for just a few?

Brian Wilson's latest revamp of Smiles is a charmer.
He never was able to talk the Beach Boys in completing the concept album. (The original version was only half of what he intended.)
It's quite an album, or now CD.

Ah, the Guardian.
This is a very 'English' list. I mean, Kraftwerk? That's pretty provincial.

Okay, I just read the whole aricle.
This list sucks! Pink Floyd is WAAAAAY down the list, no mention of Yes, Rush, Zeppelin, zero southern rock, this guy is on acid. Probably thinks Bjork is sexy too.

Interesting list. I don't agree with some, but I like the way they said "without it, there'd be no..."
But these guys are missing, What can we expect from the limeys?

After all, there is a musical genre based (alot) on their work.

Agree with some, have heard of alot of them. Elvis and the Beatles definitely, but where's Karen Carpenter?

Sounds like we would all be better off if this album had never happened.

A top 50 albums list published in al Guardian. Aren't they afraid that by pushing decadent Western music, that they'll enrage and offend their reader base of jihadists and jihadist sympathizers?

What about the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack? It made a craze out of disco (and eventually killed it).

Despite missing some key music that has just been mentioned, they are just wrong about Nevermind and the Seattle scene. It was around before Nevermind. It was really started with Motherlovebone and brought effectively to the masses by Temple of the Dog. If they want to put an album that changed rock on there it would be Temple of the Dog. If for no other reason than it was a catalyst in forming Pearl Jam and showcased Chris Cornell's writing. Not a lot more you can ask for.
Zeppelin II should be on this list as well as probably Rage Against the Machine's debut. I didn't see anything about rap/rock but they are the ones who really fused it starting from rock rather than rappers using a rock beat a la Beastie Boys or Run DMC.
