Does Clinton do Linux?
Guardian ^ | September 28 2006 | Bobbie Johnson

When Bill Clinton made his speech to the Labour Party conference, he bamboozled a few by finishing with the word "Ubuntu".

I see that you're really not interested in discussing what I've actually said.

I already did. The fact that the context of "ubuntu" had nothing to do with Linux, that the Linux context was fabricated by this blogger who read an article with that word in it, not only counters any point you may have had, but makes this whole thread meaningless.

But GE's here, and we're having fun playing Whack-a-Troll.

I use what I believe is the best tool for the job. And quite frankly the overwhelming vast majority of people on this thread would share that philosophy.

But then again when all you have is a hammer, every petty thing appears to be a nail.

I'm aware of all that. I honestly don't care.

Well as we've already seen in this thread some people put their personal comfort above any principle. But you go even farther and constantly push these foreign clones on us, to which I object.

So I can only assume you use no petroleum products in your life, directly or indirectly, since a large part of our oil comes from overseas? Or are you selective in your "economic patriotism"?

I use what I believe is the best tool for the job (whether it has leftist backings or not)

We know, you already made that quite clear, not that anyone with principle was impressed.

No, I said it again because it's quite apparent you just don't get it.

I don't buy Citgo, which is near the practical limit of my influence on such things. The equivalent for these guys would be to not only buy Citgo, but recommend it to others consrantly, and attack me personally for my preferred American product choice of Exxon.

IMHO you should refrain from buying petroleum derived products at all. Also, now that I think about it, the internet itself is not American only - it's a distributed network this is used by China and other countries not friendly to the US. Probably ought to reassess whether you really want to be using the internet. Safest course would be to find an all-American cave and live out the rest of your life eating American berries and American nuts. Can't be too careful!

Obviously I understand just perfectly, as I responded to you way back on post 39. Your own personal comfort and choices will not be influenced by principle, at any time. Nor do you wish to be bothered with such concerns, so long as your own personal needs are being met. We hear the same shortsided rationalizations all the time, by those willing to admit it, through their own indifference or naivety. You should read up on Crowley, "do what thy wilt", the guy had no principles and ended up being a double agent for multiple governments, and with your plans of becomming a lawyer, sounds like a perfect choice of study, so you can learn more about yourself than you obviously know yet.

^^^^^^^^^^Well as we've already seen in this thread some people put their personal comfort above any principle.^^^^^^^^^^

When you go to the home improvement store do you not look for the best tool for the job?

Is that not principle # 1?

^^^^^^^^^^^some people put their personal comfort above any principle.^^^^^^^^^^

Sorry, I was very comfortable with windows a long time ago. But they let their monopoly go to their heads and let sloppy coding go out the door.

Personal comfort has little to do with this. It's mainly about time. I do not have time to be the family technician.

So I found something that consistently works.

Second was money. I could have bought this and that security product, and further entrenched myself in windows with another licence but why bother? The product is faulty. Would you now buy a Yugo? Apparently you're using a Yugo now to post to me, and others.

^^^^^^^^^^^^But you go even farther and constantly push these foreign clones on us, to which I object.^^^^^^^^^^^^

I don't remember seeing anybody call you to this thread. Can you point to it? Or did you willingly join the discussion?

I could say just the opposite, you constantly push a faulty product upon others for some fake sense of americanism. All OSs have coding that's done overseas. Linux, Windows, and Mac OS alike. This is not a factor.

So you do have a sense of practicality.

Welcome to the world of Linus Torvalds.

How do you balance practicality and "principle"?

Can you directly answer this?

He may have been trying to say "Uwanabangibili". It's a Swahili phrase meaning "How would you look in a blue dress?".

I understand his desire to distance himself from things he disagrees with only to the greatest practical extent possible. Thus he avoids buying Citgo, but he can't realistically and practically expect not to consume any foreign oil given the realities of today's world.

But he sure as hell can stop voluntarily posting on a board that's powered by the evil leftist foreign Linux.
