And BSD did not give away US UNIX technology how?

Ouch, that's bad. Over the last couple decades, Japanese carmakers have been steadily increasing not only the number of cars built here, but also the percentage of American parts. They make quality cars and a hefty profit.

Meanwhile, American carmakers have been producing more cars out of American and are constantly reducing the number of American parts used in cars assembled in America. Yet they are in financial trouble, and their quality is questionable.

This is not good.

I've always wondered that, since he cheerleads BSD. From this perspective, BSD is even worse than Linux since the foreigners don't have to give back any improvements they make to the software.

Sure, Red Flag Linux is using a lot of American code, but we also get to use anything they add or fix. Red Flag BSD could be a one-way trip for our code, giving no advantage to the original American authors.

There he goes defending Communists on the same thread that he condemns others for defending Communists. Hypocrite.

He says to choose Microsoft over "foreign UNIX clones", when in fact, the only operating systems I've (or for that matter, most other people) ever given money for have come from Microsoft, and I've actually been forced to purchase quite a few copies of this software each time I buy a new computer. His "hurting Americans" theory doesn't hold water. Microsoft has gotten plenty of money from me.

He says that we should use Unix rather than Linux because it's American, but fails to explain what difference it makes if we can download either for free.

He tries constantly to tie Linux to leftists and Democrats, but still recommends Apple despite this.

It's easy to see that he doesn't understand his own position, not surprising considering his "position" is probably being fed to him from the higher ups and changed on a daily basis.

"Multics didn't come from Russia!"

So, commies are okay as long as they don't come from Russia?

That's what I thought. Just babble nonsense when you have the facts thrown up in your face. Typical of you.

BSD is crude and doesn't scale well, DUH.

Yet we have 2x dual-core Macs and Mac supercomputers getting to #3 on the Top 500 at a bargain price. And OS X is based on, OMG, BSD!

A foreign company could have legally done exactly what Apple did, and never given a line of code back.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^When you go to the home improvement store do you not look for the best tool for the job? Is that not principle # 1?

LOL pleasing yourself has nothing to do with principle, not surprised you think it does.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

What does pleasure have to do with tools? I buy a hammer when I'm going to hit nails. I buy a level when I am putting down tile.

If stanley levels or hammers keep breaking guess what kind of level I will never buy again?

This has nothing to do with pleasure.

Buying the right tool for the job is principle #1.

If this keeps up you might have to.

You don't have that ping for the sake of pinging people, do you?

Hint hint, nudge nudge? Think he'll get it anytime soon?

Get a whiff of what you posted before:

"Mepis is based on Ubuntu Linux, developed by a foreigner with ties to the Russian space program."

In other words, you suggest Mepis was derived from Ubuntu (it isn't, it was around before Ubuntu), which was developed by a person with ties to Russia. And that's bad, right?

Now, I show that UNIX was clearly inspired by Multics, again developed by a person with ties to Russia. You're reaction is to dismiss it and babble incoherently.

Which, not coincidentally, is your reaction to pretty much every fact you're presented with.

Log it to the lie list!
