The Bosnian Pyramid Phenomenon
www.robertschoch.net ^ | September 2006 | Robert M. Schoch

The afternoon we arrived in Bosnia, Osmanagic insisted on taking us straightaway to the so-called "Pyramid of the Sun." I observed the excavated areas of huge stone blocks; blocks that I was told were most definitely not natural. Clearly, Osmanagic insisted, they were man-made concrete blocks that cannot be explained geologically, put into place with a sophisticated ancient technology that has now been lost... Where he saw concrete blocks and human intervention, I saw only perfectly natural sandstones and conglomerates that had broken into larger or smaller blocks due both to tectonic stresses and gravity slumping. The rocks have been tilted and bent due to tectonic stresses... [T]he sizes of the sandstone and conglomerate blocks found are a function of the thickness of the original rock layers. Thin sandstone layers, stressed tectonically, broke into small blocks while thick and durable conglomerate layers broke into massive blocks. This is exactly the pattern expected among natural rock formations. The sandstones also typically preserve various sedimentary and depositional features, such as ripple marks and the traces of ancient burrowing animals... In some of the sandstone layers, and in many of the mudstone layers, I found large accumulations of fossil leaf debris and even some fairly complete Miocene fossil leaves. I believe that the real treasure of Visoko may be a huge fossil biota just waiting to be uncovered, not some imaginary pyramids.

The original page has nice photos. Please do go there to view than and do not post them here; that taxes their bandwidth, and probably would result in the topic's being deleted. Thanks, all.

Might be easier to make a pyramid by cutting material away than by quarrying and piling. The Bosnian pyramid idea is still possible. Does it line up with the cardinal directions? That would be a requirement.

I found this whilst looking for images of a terraced pyramid reputed to exist in Gympie, Queensland, Australia...which turns out to be a natural formation...the terraces were created by Italian immigrants for growing grapes...

One quibble: "No pyramids are known in Europe..." -- that's not true. It is true that there aren't any European pyramids as old as Giza (and needless to say, as old as 12,000 years).

I believe the first pyramid was the Gaza Pyramid (possibly built by Enoch with the help of God). All the surviving people (Noah and his family) knew about it and when mankind spread out through the world they always remembered it and tried to imitate it. In Egypt they imitated the Gaza Pyramid at first crudely and then by trying to build ever more sophisticated imitations. Of course the Gaza was awesome in it's starkness and simplicity and future imitators added all kinds of flourishes in the pyramids that they had built to promote their own selves and their false religions.
