Rolling Stones star gives up drugs - because they're too weak

Rolling Stones star says he has finally given up drugs - because they are too weak to give him a high.
The group's guitarist has complained that modern drugs lack power, claiming that dealers and chemists have reduced their strength.
The 62-year-old former heroin addict told The Sun that modern drugs such as ecstasy "mess with the brain".
He said: "I really think the quality's gone down. All they do is try and take the high out of everything.
"I don't like the way they're working on the brain area instead of just through the blood system.
"That's why I don't take any of them any more. And you're talking to a person who knows his drugs."
He said the only time he would take drugs is if having a medical proceedure, adding that he asked a nurse for extra morphine when he hit his head after falling from a tree in Fiji in April.
"She was very accommodating," he joked.
Richards is currently on a world tour with the rest of the Rolling Stones.

This looks like an article from the Onion. Funny as hell.

hoping he's getting his act with God right...
"Shut up and pray?"
The only unforgivable sin is the one that ultimately rejects Christ's forgiveness--better known as blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. My heart sank when I first heard Jagger sing the words to 'Never Make a Saint Out Of Me" ... I had the distinct impression when hearing that, that the Spirit no longer strives with Mick, sadly. Hope I'm wrong, for the whole band's eternal sake. "God is not willing that any should perish."

According to Wayne's World, Keith sleeps upside down and that is why he can't be killed by conventional weapons.

'Never Make a Saint Out Of Me" Don't know that tune, or when it came out. But I highly recommend you listen to Jagger's solo record, "Goddess in the Doorway," circ 2000 or so.
Jagger is a brilliant man. Never have his lyrics failed to indicate, above all, either sensitivity, sense of humor, intelligence, or all three -- the whole "neocon" thing seems so out of character to me. I've never heard the song, anyway.
Never did these guys believe in the rock and roll personna. They invented the pop music industry, in large part -- I don't think they ever were fool enough to buy into it.

he also yanks the low E string from his guitar because it gets in the way.
playing the opening riffs to "Brown Sugar" makes me feel so good I cry sometimes. Strange thing, music.

The song I mentioned is circa late 1990s, I think. I don't listen to secular rock anymore. I'm guessing at the actual title from the (close-to-verbatim) words of the refrain. In the song Jagger mentions an Apostle (Paul, IIRC) and scripture and knowledgeably refuses to repent of his ways. Jagger isn't dumb or poor either--Stones licensing etc. has made him a fortune.
As regards your comments his lyrics, I would remind you of those from 'Under My Thumb' but overall grant at least one of the three criteria.

I was going to post some lyrics, but I have a feeling you're the sort who will tell me why they're not theologically sound, so I won't bother.

Libertarians all need to chime in to verify Richards claim as being true or false.

If I limited my rock and roll listening only to songs that are "theologically sound" I'd be listening to .....practically nothing.
The Stones were at the top of their game in '68 to '72 -- Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile on Main St. Could be the best string of albums in the history of the genre, imo.
....and about as theolgically unsound as can be imagined.

Memo: I couldn't care less if Jagger "found Jesus" or not. All I care about is the music. ...and although both Keith and Mick's primes are long gone, they can still rock and roll with the best of them.
