Don't know that tune, or when it came out. But I highly recommend you listen to Jagger's solo record, "Goddess in the Doorway," circ 2000 or so.

Jagger is a brilliant man. Never have his lyrics failed to indicate, above all, either sensitivity, sense of humor, intelligence, or all three -- the whole "neocon" thing seems so out of character to me. I've never heard the song, anyway.

Never did these guys believe in the rock and roll personna. They invented the pop music industry, in large part -- I don't think they ever were fool enough to buy into it.

The song I mentioned is circa late 1990s, I think. I don't listen to secular rock anymore. I'm guessing at the actual title from the (close-to-verbatim) words of the refrain. In the song Jagger mentions an Apostle (Paul, IIRC) and scripture and knowledgeably refuses to repent of his ways. Jagger isn't dumb or poor either--Stones licensing etc. has made him a fortune.

As regards your comments his lyrics, I would remind you of those from 'Under My Thumb' but overall grant at least one of the three criteria.

If I limited my rock and roll listening only to songs that are "theologically sound" I'd be listening to .....practically nothing.

The Stones were at the top of their game in '68 to '72 -- Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile on Main St. Could be the best string of albums in the history of the genre, imo.

....and about as theolgically unsound as can be imagined.

Memo: I couldn't care less if Jagger "found Jesus" or not. All I care about is the music. ...and although both Keith and Mick's primes are long gone, they can still rock and roll with the best of them.
