Things are quiet and peaceful in small-town Jericho, Kansas, but when a baffling explosion occurs in the distance, Jericho's residents are plunged into social, psychological and physical chaos. No one knows what to think, and fear of the unknown takes over the town, especially because its isolation cuts it off from outside help. When nearly everything they know seems gone, will the residents of JERICHO band together to face their unfamiliar and mysterious new world?
Not too mention, if you just had a huge rainstorm with fallout, having an outdoor barbecue is probably one of the best ways to contaminate yourself.
Cool thanks!
Interesting.
The show opened with the lead character riding into Denver on a train. And in episode 3, the kid found an abandoned freight train (supposedly just outside of Jericho).
Episode 4 Ping!

Freepmail me if you want to be added to or removed from the JERICHO Ping List.
Thanks. I too missed all but the very end. I hope the town gets those railcars of food in time. Lots of "Lucifer's Hammer" in the plot but I suspect they'll stop short of making chemical defensive weapons.
Whoa, ixnay on my last, then. Could there be a container with a faulty timer on that train? Possibilities ... possibilities ...
A cold war exchange of nukes would have been mutually assured destruction - each side dropping hundreds, if not thousands of nukes...
Today it's different.
With rogue states and nutty bands of terrorists, it'll be a nuke here - or there - but not doomsday.
People can survive if they have good information. Information is the difference between being on a plane flown into the Twin Towers and being on Flight 93. Forewarned is forearmed.
So, Jerico seemed scary. It looked like someone was trying to give us information to save our lives. Well, up until they had the kid drink iodine. That'll kill a person. And the talk about if you vomit after being exposed to radiation being a sure sign of death? Not always. Some will vomit and get better - depending on dosage, and some will vomit and die... That should have been clarified.
So Jerico is entertainment - not a way to educate the public for an imminent attack - and with that thought - it quit being so scary...and so interesting....
I think that was the food shipment the store in Jericho was to get..
Good info.
Thx.
"...the only decent thing..."???
I guess you haven't watched "Heroes". I enjoy it. But then, I've always been a comic-book guy...
Hey thanks for posting that. :) I think it's especially ironic considering the North Korea detonation that may or maynot have been nuclear. In the world we live in today, a show like Jericho is NOT just entertainment. There is a real chance this kind of thing may happen. Maybe not eight or more cities, but someday, a nuclear mushroom cloud will consume an American city. It terrifies me to think of it, but I just don't think there's anyway to stop terrorists forever.
I kept meaning to come on after the third episode and kept forgetting. It was really good I thought. The highway with the planes landed on it was quite an image. The thought of thousands of planes in the air when national air traffic control goes down is pretty scary. Millions of people stuck in the air, in planes with no contact with the ground. I love flying but I sure wouldn't want to be in the air when something like that happened. Wondering where they'll take it with the one tonight with people from Denver showing up. That will be pretty disturbing I think.
Second episode I mean. I keep thinking this one tonight is the fourth episode for some reason. :)
Looking forward to it. Should be pretty disturbing hearing from someone who was in one of the cities that was destroyed. I keep wondering what the deal was with that barrel that the former cop sealed up in his basement and walled it in with cinder blocks. Did I miss something? And I guess tonight he'll disclose the list he got off the radio.
Yes I've heard of that here and there. It is scary. The thing that scares me with those briefcase nukes is that a lot of Soviet nuke scientists have worked with the terrorists the past decade and could have taught them to maintain such a thing. THAT's why those scare me. An dit is scary that cities are having to stockpile in the event of such an attack, but thank God they're getting ready just in case.
Your BIL got what information from who? And when was that? It sounds like a "friend of a friend of a friend" type thing... What do you think?
And the brother that was in the rain for 12 minutes helping a friend get his cattle put up, 12 minutes in the rain wouldn't be fatal, and he did take the iodine which is what would be done in that case, as iodine neutralizes cell breakdown after radiation exposure. They are doing in the show what would be recommended if this really happened.
I don't think it will have ended up being China that launched the attack. China has few ICBMs actually, a fraction of what we have, and far less then Soviets were able to field actually. Soviet numbers of ICBMs were exaggerated actually and in all actuality they were only able to field about 100 or so. Far less then they were supposed to have, while we had thousands, which broke the Soviets back trying to keep up, thanks to Reagan. The Chinese are a possibility, and frankly, the only culprit I would accept besides terrorists, though I think easily, the Islamo-fascits terrorists are by far the most likely group to do this kind of strike.
It was actually pretty good. It's scary to think that rain could be such an enemy. The one with the refugees should be really chilling. It will be striking to see the aftermath. If it's done accurately, it will really educate people who don't realize how bad a nuclear strike would be in a major American city.
Okay yeah the one tonight is the 4th episode. I thought so. This week has been crazy and I thought I lost a week somewhere. The first one was when it happened. The second one was when the rain was coming. The third one was after the rain and when they got the food together and scouted out the area outside of the town, and the fourth one is tonight with the Denver sirvivors. Doesn't seem like it's been on a month already.
Not a friend of a friend type thing at all, no.
My BIL got information directly from the government (state, I believe) that they needed to prepare - get water, canned goods, etc and the notice also told them how to tape up their windows and doors and what to do in case of nuclear attack.
