Pick the video.

Hit Play and let video roll to desired spot.

Hit Pause.

Take snapshot with digital camera.

Download snapshot from digital camera to computer.

I just tried that. I don't seem to have that option in my view/DVD features menu.

What are you trying to video cap from? If it's internet video like youtube then I usually use Irfanview. It'll capture the whole screen and then you just crop the image down to the video frame and save it however you want. It works just fine with most embedded video.

If you're looking to capture an external source like a video tape, you'll need a video capture card, sometimes called a TV tuner card and the appropriate software, which it will likely come with. They're not very expensive and easy to set up.

You need nothing, as long as you are running Windows, and the video is from an online source:

1. When the video shows what you want, press PrintScreen. This will copy the entire screen to the clipboard.

2. Open Windows Paint.

3. Select Edit/Paste.

4. Click the selection tool, then select the area you want to keep

5. Select Edit/Copy. Then select File/New to open a new window of Paint.

6. Select Edit/Paste, then resize the image area with the sizing handles to crop to the image you want to save.

7. Select File/Save, choose the format you want to save in, type a name for the file, then click OK.

If an image is on the screen in a Windows program, this trick will always work.

Where does it save the screen caps to? I looked at the help file and it says they go to the, "My pics." But they're not there. I also tried to change the destination file for them and they still won't go.

Thanks for your pointers. I'll play with it a bit and see if I can get it to work.

If not, I'll resort to Martin's method.

That doesn't work with DVDs though.

No, but I was doing it wrong. I was trying to capture a paused movie. I didn't know that the movie had to be running to grab a pic.

Where *DID* you find that photo? In the "blonde secretary" joke file?

Cheers!
