Chip off the old croc: Bindi wants to film stingrays after dad Steve Irwin's death
The eight-year-old has even said she wants to swim with the same giant fish that killed her daredevil dad.
Bindi who was named after one of Steve's favourite crocodiles is presenting her own wildlife series called Jungle girl.
And the tragic events that led to Steve, 44, being pierced in the chest by a stingray's barb happened as he shot for scenes for his daughter's children's TV show.

Well, I am certain Steve is real proud of her.
ok, this is starting to sound a leeeeeeettel bit weird.
Hello? Mom??? You there?
This is ridiculous.
But if they go through with it, I hope it goes a long way to promote interspecies understanding and bring "closure" and whatever the idiotic buzzword of the day is.
Pretty misleading headline. All the real story says is that she wants to do it, no info from anybody that would be in charge on whether such a thing is approved or planned.
Okay, I posted without reading the article as closely as I should. I thought they were WANTING the girl to swim with the stingray, not that it was her own idea.
Bad on me.
But still, I hope some responsible adult lets her know that all the sea creatures are not like the ones on The Little Mermaid.
I don't understand this attitude. When I was stung by a sculpin, I ate it for dinner.
Why? For following her fathers footsteps? For doing exactly what her deceased father would have wanted? Steve was quite clear that his dream was he would hand over his work to his children someday. Obviously it did not go as planned, but Bandi is doing Steve proud.
how about this she's a C-H-I-L-D?
Yeah, and she was a child when Steve was alive and she was doing it.
Please go back and read post #8. I explain that I misunderstood the article.
"But still, I hope some responsible adult lets her know that all the sea creatures are not like the ones on The Little Mermaid".
>>What many folks overlook is that many rural children are far ahead of city kids when it comes to an awareness of reality.<<
Interesting. And you base this on what?
how are they going to find the exact one that killed him?
"And you base this on what"?
You must spend a lot of time in the big city to do that. Good for you.
I live near a tourist town, also in a area of rapid growth.
I don't need to visit any large city to view their produce.
In the case of Bindi Irwin, we are not discussing familiarity with urban "reality", but familiarity with the underlying natural reality. A kid like Bindi, or like my kid, and my grandson, are not likely to develop any Disneyesque illusions. I don't claim to be another Steve Irwin, but nothing he did was amazing to me. I did enjoy his programs, fun, educational, sure, they were, but not amazing.
Rural kids tend to live a lot closer to nature-in-tooth-and-claw than urban kids. There just aren't as many foxes or coyotes gunning for your pets in NYC as there are out in the wilds. In Bindi's case with the Australian Zoo as functionally her backyard I think she's got a pretty good grasp on the difference between real animals and Disney animals.
