They haven't really beat em up yet though. In fact, the Dems say the GOP is in cahouts with the oil companies.

Someone please tell me what is so different now than 6 months ago to have caused this price drop other than an election being two months away?

Yes, that's generally true at the GA border as well...however, a couple of months ago my parents moved to North GA...gas was consistently about 15-20 cents higher per gallon there...for some reason I haven't figured out yet, they got the "big drop" that we got today over a week ago. Go figure.

We're at $2.74....This is Upstate New York and getting scr**** is nothing new to us!!

No doubt that 15 cent a gallon more in state gas taxes that NY pays above the average state contributes to that. Call your state legislators and complain about that!

You not only have to get it, you have to compress and chill it.

Now, recent advances in photovoltaics make electro-hydrolysis look like a 'cheap' way to produce H2 gas. But ...

One day we'll figger out how to mimic photosynthesis (better than we do today) so we can efficiently, chemically reduce Hydrogen from water and make it combustible. That'll have two good outcomes -- we'll create a carbon sink (by making CxHx) and by liberating O2.

Or, we could just grow LOTSA plants and use them for fuel, and let nature do the work.

I vote for nuclear power plants augmented with solar power. Hydrogen is the 'cleanest' burning fuel, but at a pretty high thermodynamic cost.

I always laugh. We go nuts on the cost of gas. But look in the front seat of half these vehicles and what do you see??

Twelve ounces of water in a bottle. Sticker price: $1.19.

Coffee is $4.00 a pound.

Coldcuts are in the $6-$8 range.

Steak???...I haven't bought one this year.

Excellent!

Looks like we've got an ol' fashion gas war on our hands. LOL
Just like the 50's when stations were FULL SERVICE, pump your gas, check your oil, water in your radiator, air in the tires and clean your windshield.
Give you a smile, a "thank you" with Green Stamps and all for 29.9!

Here in Wake Forest, NC the gas was $2.33 yesterday. Just 3 miles down Capital Boulevard in Raleigh, it was $2.49. Go figure. They are setting prices by zip codes, just like retailers like Walmart and others.

"the Dems say the GOP is in cahouts with the oil companies."

'Money' is usually in cahoots with other money, or to make more money. Regardless of party lines. The bottom line is how one makes business decisions. ie. move manufacturing overseas, but headquarter here because our government ensures you don't get your head cut off, or hire illegals, or bring in green card engineers from India. Both scenarios don't help the local american who is truly patriotic to our way of life, but is at the mercy of the health of local industry.

also I have seen from some sources (not necessarily 100% credible but you know the MSM won't report it) that IRAQ is ramping up crude production quite nicely these days.

You know, if Reid and his ilk weren't so dangerous, I would feel pity for them. It has to be a real drag to depend on the misery of others for your own success ~ to constantly try to convince people how terrible things are despite what the reality is...Sad, strange little people are these.
