"Kirk was all over texas prior to the OSU game and I wasnt acting like he owes the Buckeyes an apology. He calls them as he see's them and he is allowed to be wrong. God, lighten up."

The guy's a feeb. He may be 'allowed to be wrong,' but when you're wrong, you ought to admit it--especially when you're the lone gunman as he was, and as wrong as his predictions have proven.

Sure, it was a close one...except that it was reviewed, and obvious on review that the hit was before the pass. That is why I'm angry--because everyone watching TV knew the call should have been, and then to add insult to injury THEY WAVED OFF THE FLAG!

Sad officiating. Just sad. The NCAA should be doing something about a day like yesterday.

"I hope they replace him before next year. Miami, UF, Virginia Tech, Alabama..."

[shudders]

At least it's Miami AT FSU. But we'll still have to deal with UF at UF.

We'll have SoS on our side when it comes to rankings, but I have serious concerns about next season, if Jeffy is still running the offense. We'll have to run the table just to have a shot at it this season, but I think this loss has proven that FSU needs serious help in the secondary, and desperately needs help on the O-line. I felt like I was watching Booker try to play Barry Sanders.

I'm going conspiracy theorist on this one: Bobby wanted to save at least ONE of his kids' jobs for another year. Jeffy is toast as OC. This sealed it. But Tommy could have been toast as Coach. This way, Tommy can hire Jeffy. 8)

I did hear the commentators on t.v. and every one to a man said it was a horrible call. And I read the Advocate out of Baton Rouge this morning, and Miles was bad-mouthing the refs in the nicest way possible, pointing out the inconsistency between the two interference calls that both went Auburn's way. I'm not saying LSU would have won; I'm saying at this level of play, there's no excuse for not having refs that are this bad. It puts a question mark around Auburn for the rest of the year.

If I had to rank the conferences after 3 weeks...

1) SEC
2) Big Ten
3) ACC/Pac 10
4) Big East
5) Mountain West/ Big XII
6) Independents (especially because of ND, but Navy isn't bad either)
7) WAC
8) CUSA
9) MAC
10) Sun Belt

I'm not sure both Michigan and Ohio State, or either of them will go undefeated in the Big Ten. They could both get beat in an off and unlucky day by at least three teams.

That being said, Penn State will have to get very lucky to even come close to either of them this year.

They're the real deal whereas Penn State is too young and inexperienced.

I weep looking at that because I know its true. At least I saw enough in my Huskers last night to think we have a legitamate shot at the conference title, if Cally has an offensive game plane that is against Texas.

On a side note I am thinking its quite possible that we have more than 3 undefeateds this year.

yeah...

although it's kind of hard to point to the SEC as giving everyone the 3rd undefeated. The league is absolutely brutual for Florida and Auburn.

I'd say that Ohio State and USC are on a collision course, but that might be jerking with the karma a bit....

Louisville or WVU can go undefeated so could Boise State, I think it is Auburn and Florida on a collision course in the SEC.

well I don't think a WAC team will get into the BCS title game.

I'd personally LOVE for 3 or 4 teams to go undefeated.

Several teams with one loss won't cut it, they need to be undefeated.

Hopefully the BCS blows up.

Re: The Oklahoma/Oregon game

"It was a Big 12 crew....including replay official. "

Correction: It was a Pac 10 crew.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/la-sp-dufcol18sep18,1,6221507.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-college&track=crosspromo

Just an FYI, since some seemed emphatic on Saturday that it was a Big XII crew. Not that it changes anything, but the Pac 10 will release a statement today.

Thank you. I could smell a Pac 10 ref a mile away - which is why I was yelling about Coastie refs.

The Pac 10 won't let any other conference refs officiate at their home games. If that doesn't stink, I don't know what does. I was baffled when it was posted that they were Big 12 refs, but thought someone else knew better than I did.

Now they're saying the report will be "tomorrow." Ah, "tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow."

Big 12 officials and Pres Boren are on the case.

The rumor now is that the replay official was Gordon Riese. If this is the case, the blown replay calls are a result of gross incompetence, not bias. From another message board:

The correct spelling of the official's last name is RIESE. Additionally, Gordon Riese is far from being a respected official in any normal D-IA conference sense. He is best known for being a part of the officiating crew that called "The Play" between Cal and Stanford in 1982. However, in recent years he has been relegated to the replay booth, as would be right to assume, because he got older(he's 66), his eyes blurier, mind duller, and his legs a tad slower. He got stuck upstairs because, to put it bluntly, he was f*cking up so many calls on the field. That's right...Mr. Riese's bad calls started a riot in a WSU vs WU in a 2002 game and he single handidly gave a game to USC against UCLA in 2004. At first the Pac-10 tried demoting Mr. Riese from Referee to Line Judge but even then the complaints regarding his officiating became to numerous for even the Pac-10 to ignore. They eventually forced him to 'retire' by placeing him behind a replay screen. He resides in Beaverton, OR and is a graduate of Portland State. Oh, and he wears Nike Airs.

This will have me "talking like a pirate" a day early. Arrrrrggh!

Something needs to be done about this OREGON guy. Good to know his own Coasties have also had problems with him. Good find - thanks for posting it!

Boren is asking for: 1) an apology from the Pac 10 for what Boren calls "gross errors in officiating"; 2) that the game not be recorded as a win or a loss by either team; 3) that the officials who reviewed the plays be suspended for the rest of the season; 4) that the Big 12 ask the Pac 10 to change its rule calling for only Pac 10 officials at non-conference home games; and 5) for the Big 12 to call for a discussion of how the replay review process should be implemented.

....I agree about the call being blown.....but when I hear whining about "Pac 10" refs...I just laugh....you sound like a Democrat.....I'll bet every Sat you'll hear yowls and yelps from every frigging conference about lousy refs so that is just a red herring....what about that 1990 Colorado / Missouri game when the refs gave 5 downs to the Bufs....and that is how they won.....it happens in every single conference....but I hear less whining about it outside the Big 12

Oh bull. Did you even read your own Coasties' postings? They're not Big 12.

I've been known to grumble about calls just like everyone else, but I have friends who are refs and I know what a hard job it is.

You sound more like a Democrat than I ever have in my whole entire life. What a laugh.
