College Football - Live Thread - Week Three
ESPN.com Scoreboard ^ | Thursday September 14th to Saturday September 16th 2006

Week Three – College Football

Week Two gave everyone the earliest #1 vs. #2 showdown in modern college football history. The game, however, turned out to not really live up to the hype. This week we are treated to SEVERAL big games, some of which are in conference in the SEC, and a historically significant rivalry renews in South Bend.

As always, all rankings are from the ESPN.com Scoreboard page. I will also list any games of interest (FReepmail me if you want your team included and I will include them from here on out) and any other games listed in my Yahoo league.

GAME of the WEEK

Saturday, September 16th, 2006 – 3:30 PM on CBS

(6) LSU at (3) Auburn (-3.5)

This is going to be a fun game to watch I think. We have Auburn which has been the odds-on favorite to win the SEC this year against a very good and very fast LSU team that is looking to spoil the Auburn season AND put itself into the national spotlight. Both teams feature strong defenses, good running games and good coaching. Fewest mistakes wins this game. I’m going with the home team.

Auburn 16 – LSU 13

Thursday September 14th, 2006 (ESPN Thursday Night Game)

Maryland at (5) West Virginia (-17)

West Virginia gets one of their rivalry games out of the way early. This should be a decent test for a team that hasn’t beaten a BCS School yet.

It’s not in the pick’em league, but I’ll give a pick anyway.

WVU 42 – Maryland 13

Saturday September 16th 2006 (in ranking order)

Cincinnati at (1) Ohio State (-30)

Ohio State 45 – Cincinnati 7

(11) Michigan at (2) Notre Dame (-6)

Notre Dame 27 – Michigan 20

(19) Nebraska at (4) USC (-19)

USC 42 – Nebraska 20

(7) Florida (-3.5) at (13) Tennessee

Florida 17 – Tennessee 9

(8) Texas (-31) at Rice

Texas 55 – Rice 6

Clemson at (9) Florida State (-4.5)

FSU 24 – Clemson 16

UAB at (10) UGA (-17)

UGA 35 – UAB 10

(17) Miami at (12) Louisville (-4.5)

Miami 22 – Louisville 20****UPSET ALERT

Duke at (14) Virginia Tech (-35)

VT 45 – Duke 3

(15) Oklahoma at (18) Oregon (-4.5)

Oregon 28 – Oklahoma 20

Iowa State at (16) Iowa (-13.5)

Iowa 32 – Iowa St. 10

(24) Texas Tech (-1) at (20) TCU

Texas Tech 45 – TCU 39

Portland St. at (21) California (NL)

Cal 58 – Portland St. 10

(22) Arizona St. (-10) at Colorado

ASU 38 – Colorado 7

BYU at (23) Boston College(-7)

BC 21 – BYU 19 ****UPSET ALERT

Youngstown St. at (25) Penn State (NL)

Penn State 52 – Y’Town St 6

38-4 Straight UP
32-10 Against the Spread

Nah you can shut the door on the Miami-L'ville game.

Miami is soft.

If Michigan can come out like this the rest of the year, it will be Michigan/Ohio State for the Big Ten title AND a possible BCS title game shot.

I DETEST rooting for Michigan, besides the Wolverines, I am always Big 10 loyal. However, the way they are playing against the Irish is making our conference look good.

Seems like it would be a longshot, for us to play UM in the title game, unless Mich. loses one, (actually, so many scenarios there) and then up we lose to Mich. in our last game, and I don't even want to think about that...:)

Anyway, this game isn't over, and ND could come back strong, but unlikely at his point. The LSU/Auburn game is a nailbiter, and arguably the best game to watch of the day/night.

Penn State beat itself against ND.

The entire game would have been much closer if they hadn't killed themselves in that first half with penalties....

No what I'm saying is that Michigan and Ohio State could very well be undefeated going into The Game.

That could mean a BCS title game shot for the winner.

I don't think she was canned...

I think her deal was up and she went to ABC/ESPN

How did Louisville get the ball back? An INT or a fumble?

Anyway, Louisville got another TD. Statement game, indeed.

Open question: why is NBC so openly pro-Notre Dame? I know there's a valid reason, and it has something to do with the contract, but somebody please explain. Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

Meanwhile, the LSU/Auburn matchup is getting good. I've always liked Auburn. But LSU does have a top-tier fight song.

Hey like I said, I'm "rooting for UM"....ouch, ouch, ouch(did I really say that?)....Anything to make our Big Ten recognized for the premier conference that it is...:)

OK--peace between us. The Wolverines came to play, and it appears that the Golden Domers spent too much time reading their press clippings...

Because they've been a "media darling" for years! The are always over-rated, IMO.

OK tied up the game with Oregon at some point too. Both are at lucky 13 in the 3rd.

It's because these two clowns in the booth broadcast every ND game. Their open bias makes the games virtually unbearable. It's like watching network news.

The Ducks fumbled and the Sooners recover.
