I have seen alerts on other forums that Jeff Cooper is in Intensive Care.
Quote:
Jeff Cooper is in extremely grave condition at this hour. Previously hospitalized for possible surgery, he suffered a heart attack and was revived in the hospital.
The heart muscle suffered serious damage.
It was posted at 19:28 hours EDT.
Thanks for the post. I never miss a "Gunner's Guru" of Jeff's. Several of his books are considered the ultimate references for shooting.
Very worthwhile reading.
But the man is an icon of American pistolcraft. It's up to us to pass his legacy along to others and to the young people. He's an original rugged individualist. A man's man. Definitely not PC! Said what he meant...and meant what he said.
Get well and best wishes Col. Cooper!
Latest update at 5:40AM is there is nothing else that can be done. The Colonel has left instructions not to resuscitate and has asked to be returned home to the ranch to die. It appears to be only a matter of time now.
And this:
I received the following from Col. Cooper's daughter Lindy today: "The latest is not good. It has been determined that Dad is not strong enough to undergo the kyphoplasty procedure. His lungs and heart are starting to fail. He will be coming home from the hospital either today or tomorrow and Mom will have hospice care in the home. I will be driving up tomorrow to do what I can to help. Thanks for your interest. Lindy"
Again, I am just passing on info I have seen on the other forum. I really wish it was better news.
Get well Colonel, and God Bless.
I have enjoyed his column since I first read it, and it is the first thing I read when the magazine comes in.
May God bless him for his forthright commentary and the inspiration it has brought all of us who have read it.
Thank you for that ifo. Jeff Cooper has been an inspiration to many. I love his books & columns. My man was lucky enough to have met him & trained under him many years ago.
Treat all firearms as if loaded all the time.
Never point your firearm at anything you don't want to destroy.
Never touch the trigger until you want the firearm to go off.
Always be sure of your target and its backstop.
Sounds pretty serious for the good Colonel. Prayers up.
Col. Jeff Cooper is real man and a real American!
Prayers on the way for his full recovery.

Thanks for the thread and the updates.
UPDATE:
"Word has it that daughter Lindy has made arrangements with Hospice to take him home and make him as comfortable as possible."
This doesn't sound so good. Prayers up.
BTW, Jeff Quinn of http://www.gunblast.com is recuperating from an unsuspected heart attack.
Our thoughts and prayers go out in support of Colonel Cooper and his family. I had the great fortune to get to know Col. Cooper while attending Gunsite. How special it was to listen to his stories and take instruction from him. He and his staff have no equal.
As a followup, for those who would like more information on Col. Cooper, here's a good site: http://www.frfrogspad.com/cooper.htm
The two certainties in this world . . . well, a really good lawyer, a really good CPA, and a last-minute Presidential pardon (why, hello, Mr. Rich!) can get you out of the one, there's nothing to do about the other.
Colonel Cooper, enjoy your well-deserved place of honor in Valhalla.
Have you ever even considered their home page statement?

The winners write the history books. They usually wait for it to be over, but nothing is usual these days. You're admitting defeat before the war is over.
Isn't it great to be living in such interesting times!
