THE VILLAGES -- Nearly two weeks after toddler Trenton Duckett disappeared, his 21-year-old mother shot and killed herself Friday afternoon in her grandparents' retirement-community home, authorities said.
Melinda Duckett died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said, but they provided few other details about her death.
Two-year-old Trenton had not been found by early today.

In the taped interview aired Friday night on the CNN Headline News program Nancy Grace, Melinda Duckett was interrogated on her whereabouts before and during Trenton's reported abduction.
She was asked whether she had undergone a lie-detector test, where she was before her son's disappearance and other specifics of the case but provided rambling replies that rarely answered the questions.
"Nancy Grace ate her up," said Jeanne Bragg, a close friend of the Ducketts' who watched Friday's program. "She asked her [Melinda] four times if she had taken a lie-detector test, and Melinda danced around the question."

"The fact that she killed herself makes me think that she knew her son was not coming back."
I think you are right, no parent kills them self while they are still searching for their child.
I caught part of the show. The mother (now deceased) said that the little boy was snatched out of his crib while Mom and two guys were in the living room watching movies. I guess the two guy said that they never even saw the child that night.
LOLOLOL
Geez...Read the transcript...Makes you wonder where they get these people from. It read like some kind of interrogation by space creatures not certain that they were actual human beings...
I agree with you..I think Nancy Grace does a tremendous job on her show, she definetly fights for the victims and does not let her guests *spin* to me she is like the female version of John Walsh.
People can judge for themselves as to whether or not Nancy added to her stress...the quote about Nancy badgering her was from the article and not from me...
I know you are a pig, but what is Nancy Grace? A hard-nosed former prosecutor who lost her fiance weeks before their wedding to a murdering dog. I am always curious about anyone that doesn't like law enforcement or former law enforcement like Nancy Grace. Is it because you dread the thought of someone like her all over your case? What are you hiding?
She honed in on this woman's nonsense, a total pack of lies the woman was telling. When I heard the interview I immediately thought the mother was involved. I have the benefit of having a playmate in my youth killed by her mother, an asian bride, who also committed suicide.
BTW, no matter what you write now, you'll always be a pig in my book.
Say whatever you want. She has the attitude of a pig, a nasty woman and I can't stand her tv presence. So there.
Your post suggests you have not read the transcript of the Nancy Grace interview of the mother. Have you?
BTW: How is life in the Poconos? (You can private message me on that).
So what is it that you're afraid of a pig like that investigating you for?
Please do not post to me anymore. Thank you.
Sorry, free speech don't work like that. You have dissed a heroine of mine without any specifics at all. You are not entitled to a pass. I have never seen NG without compassion for a crime victim. She knew right away this mother was no crime victim. The hair on the back of her neck was probably standing straight up the longer that lying scumball continued her charade. She deserves nothing but accolades for that interview. Another scumball bites the dust.
I am NOT referring to anything of Nancy Grace's personal life. That is irrelevant. Her presence on television is like fingernails on a blackboard. She is a media whore, a female Geraldo Rivera. That's all I have to say. Good bye.
BTW, I have had the honor of meeting Nancy Grace when she took her own free time to fly to Modesto to attend a Lacy Peterson memorial/ victim's rally. Her best friend in Atlanta had just been murdered by a jailed thug who also murdered the judge, yet she didn't cancel her trip, she would not allow evil to triumph, as courageous a person as I have ever met. "Don't post me again", indeed. What kind of a wimp are you?
You mean like how she ridicules criminals so that young people will be less likely to emulate them? Boy that is grating. Or how she features a fallen soldier on each and every one of her shows? Boy is that getting old. (sarcasm in case anyone wonders)
Or maybe it's having on creeps like Marc Klass and John Walsh that bothers you.
Or maybe you just, like so many criminals of which you may or may not be one, don't like the voice of truth and justice for the victims. I've yet to find a crime victim that doesn't adore her.
This coming from a man who takes his screen name after a thug in the fictional movie "The Godfather."
So in your world, thugs are to be admired and the prosecutors that take them off the street are to be despised?
That's a little different from my world, and, I would daresay, the world of most Free Republic devotees.
I find Nancy to be a grandstanding drama queen, essentially Shep Smith with a higher IQ. Not my cup of tea.
Grace is a pig and you're a creepy stalker.
You are not entitled to a pass.
Aww, and a self-appointed thread monitor too. How cute.
A god even! And luckily for us, she shines her beneficient countenance upon us, showering us with her graces, enriching our tiny lives.
ALL HAIL HER!
