Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I forget, is this your first year finishing, or did you finish last year as well?

I finished last year. I blew up the planet. That was fun. This year I'm only about halfway done. If I finish the story and then edit it down, it should be a respectable size.

It might be good inspiration to do another chat view one of these cold days of winter! We may tune it in for the weirdness of seeing it with commercial breaks, but we've got it on DVD, we can watch whenever we like.

Good morning LCS :~)

Ponies are fed, fresh snow on the ground, and blown in on the porch...

Congrats LF! You're awesome!

I'd like to be within shooting range tonight. Mondays and Wednesdays are my busy days and I'd rather not leave it for the last minute.

G'nad had a Corin day on Sunday...

It involved putting a dog house together and a skil saw...

He's ok, but the the saw cut into his thumb and back of the hand. He was sawing...stopped to move a clamp and swung his bad arm into it. He was ripping plywood because I wanted trim for it (so that it would match the house). I had been helping him do that and we had a good system down. I wasn't there for the last couple of cuts and now I'm kicking myself. He has to see an othopedic surgen because they think the top ligament on that thumb might have been cut.

He says..."Hey, I left no didgets on the floor" and is offering to send pics.

In other news, we got our tree on Sunday as well. We went out and cut it down ourselves, got home, brought it inside, and noticed an old bird nest in it. I reached in to pull it out only to see little baby mice. We removed 5 of the smallest and cutest little guys I've ever seen...took them outside and watched the cats play with them. I need to set a trap though...

Any project that leaves no digits on the floor is a successful project :~) Jeepers g'nad, careful! Your option on pictures!

~shudder~ I've found the little pink wigglies myself in the barn. Our Gidget swallows them in one bite.

On the ligament... I cut the ligament on one side of my pinky finger with the Hedge trimmer. I can still move the finger, but with a tendon on only one side, it pulls it a little crooked. Our doc said at the time that I probably wouldn't need surgery unless I was a concert pianist or something...

Watching TV about the ice out there... They're talking about people taking 8-9 hours to get home from the game last night. I-5 was a skating rink, it was just glare ice. Still looks like glare ice this morning at least up north.

Rosie, if you don't have to go in, maybe stay home.

That's good to hear. He has had the last two days off. Not sure when he'll see the doc...we hope today, but the red tape...it may be weeks. :-)

Ouch!

Though I admit, there's a twisted side of me that would *almost* like to see pictures...

My younger brother cut the back of his thumb. He can move it, but doesn't have a normal range of motion. I can't remember if he cut through the ligament or not. He did have to have stitches and such.

Rosie, if you don't have to go in, maybe stay home.

Are there any sites with up to date road conditions? Maybe I'll wait a few hours, and if it still sounds pretty bad, I'll at least not go in until later in the day. Though...doesn't sound like it's supposed to get much above freezing, so it may not get much better, I dunno.

I guess there were a lot of leftover problems from the upgrade last night, though. If I can get in, I probably should, but not at risk of life amd limb. ;-)

There's this...

WSDOT - Olympia Traffic Cameras

It's the shininess that's alarming. At these temps, it's not just wet.

Well, chains would have helped a little.

I'd loan you the Ranger, but today is probably a bad day to learn how to drive a stick. ;~)

LOL!

G'nad, I hope that hand's ok there, my friend!

Good morning Hobbit Hole!

~sip~

It rained. Steve's been gone since 3am drawing samples.

They are reporting that DOT is out with de-icers... you might be OK by 8. You can always just go without making it a mission, head down 93rd and see what you see when you get to the freeway. You don't ~have~ to get on.

Just go really slow, and it's not really risk to life and limb, more a really slow motion risk to fenders. ;~)

Eeesh. Take care out there. It's been pouring here last two days but it's warm, no ice. Supposed to get vey cold starting Wednesday but be more clear, so hopefully I can avoid driving in snow for a while.

My new route to work avoids freeways and merges. It does have long hills and cruves, but it's merges that freak me out ever since the time I spun out and ended up facing backwards while trying to get on.
