Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Cool! I didn't realize that there was a Byzantine parish in your vicinity! That's nice that someone took the time to call. How much farther away is it than the other, closer, parish?

she's takin' lessons from a 17 y/o local homeschooled boy who won the MO state fiddlin' competition

Isn't it great that you have the flexibility to do things like that? Someday, I'd like to learn to play the piano.

I went to BJ's Wholdesale club over the weekend, and was going to get some Starbuck's Winter Blend, which I'd gotten over the last few years. Turns out, the BJ's brand is also called Winter Blend and it is in a package VEY similar to the Starbucks. Wonder if they are having Starbucks package some just for BJ's? Works for me, it's only about $9 a pound!

That's just great! Tell him to get me some pig!

Michigan is apparently starting to have a feral pig problem. Anybody with a hunting license of any kind is authorized to take as many feral pigs as they can. You just have to call the DNR and tell them where you bagged your porker so they can keep track of where the problem is worse.

Well, it seems that for all we do, we find more that we're going to have to do! One step forward, two back so to speak.

That problem with the heater channel is a concern. It may mean there isn't any place to weld a new one on to! Pulling that little pop riveted piece back revealed much and is worrisome.

Once we get it up on the sawhorses (which are 8 feet long and about 35 inches tall, made with 4x4" fence posts and steel) we should be able to tell more. The body will be up on sawhorses and the chassis will be stored underneath, but able to roll out for us to work on in the driveway.

See, here...someone did it to a Karmann Ghia...the same thing we're fixin' to do.

I'm a nervous wreck over it, but I wouldn't be me if I wasn't! He he!

I've mentioned it a few times - was going there every week for awhile, but I haven't gone in a month or so. And it's small enough that people know one another well and notice when someone drops off the face of the planet. Hence the call. ;-)

It's a good thirty minutes away instead of fifteen minutes, but still not too bad. But being Byzantine, they only have one sunday liturgy, and it's long. And I've been lazy.

What time on Sunday morning is the Byzantine Mass?

We had an interesting 'time' episode last night. We were working in the dining room, moving packing stuff out of the way, and we cut off early so we could go to 5:30 Mass. The clock in our bedroom read 4:16, so I though we had plenty of time. When I was done, Joseph took his shower, (we haven't finished work on the hall bath) then SirKit got in. Joseph was playing on his computer and said, Uh, Mom, it's 5:40! I was confused, because my clock said 5:15! Turns out, when I'd re-set my clock after the trip, I must have dreamed up some time or the other because it was TOTALLY wrong! Even my computer clock was wrong, because I'd set it after we got back from AL. I used a post on HH to get the correct time. ;o)

Well, at that point we were late for 5:30 Mass, but I remembered that a neighboring town had what I'd remembered as 7pm Mass. I checked their website, and it turns out they'd changed it to 6:30, but we still got there just in time for the opening hymn! Whew!

In other news, wife just called and said she'd lost all Internet connectivity in the house.

"What did you do?" asked I.

"I disconnected everything from the modem, (on the advice of the "help" desk from her company) and now I don't have Internet at all," said she.

I ~calmly~ explained that she had only needed to disconnect the power from the modem. And I managed to walk her through reconnecting everything correctly.

That said, Nana didn't feel up to going to the dr. today who would hopefully diagnose the issues with her hands.

And Luke had a "meltdown" at school. I don't think he's sick, just very tired.

It's a wonderful life...

They call it Divine Liturgy instead of Mass...though there are enough of us "Romans" who show up that either term works. ;-) It's at 10:30...typically if I stay for the social time afterwards, I don't get home until two or so.

A good place to go for correct time is http://www.time.gov which pulls a timetick from the Naval Observatory.

Interesting tidbit: The USNO has two main internal time servers: tick.usno.navy.mil, and tock.usno.navy.mil.

I thought that was cute. Tick and tock. :-)

Yeah, Joseph went there to get the correct time. I adjusted my clock and my computer's clock accordingly. ;o)

Did you see I had pinged you to someone's comments about SOX? I thought you might have something pertinent to add, if you felt like it.
