Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Right. I do Times New Roman double spaced and let Word determine my pages. But, I was trying to see how many pages 140,000 words would be if it were published, so I counted the words on a couple of pages in a popular novel. (Paperback - Hardback might be more words on a page) It averaged about 350 words. So, while Word tells me that I have 488 pages, if I divide 140,000 (my grand total) by 350, (average words in a Clancy novel) I would get 400 pages.
Of course, this totally unscientific. But, I just like to know. It boosts my confidence.
Probably when an editor gets through, I will probably have 10 good pages and short story instead. LOL!

So sorry about all the postings. I think the link between Israel and California got all hinky.

Oh,yes. Don't get that here. In the Golan, and in the Galilee and in Jerusalem but not in Tel Aviv.

That's pretty much the way I go through life.
To recap:
1) I believe Overtaxed was referring to the "s" word otherwise known as "snow."
2) Earlier on this thread, 2J was asking about the word "snap" and it's usage as a replacement for the other "s" word.
As a general rule, after 31 threads, if something doesn't make sense, stick around because we'll likely discuss it again.

Yeah...we tend to re-hash a *lot* and the funny thing is, we do it when we meet in person too!
It's fun.

Well, we lost power at about one this morning. Wind was just incredible last night. I was getting ready in the dark when the power came back up, but still didn't have internet - I didn't end up barging in on Hair and ecurbh to check on them, but didn't see any obvious limbs down or anything like that.
Just got a page from da boss - guess the power is out at his place, which means its off at work. Promises to be quite a Monday.
Ungh.

Nope. By rights I should have been paged when it went out to come babysit the servers and make sure they come back up OK, but I didn't get a page for some reason.
Finishing a muffin and then I gotta run there early.
At least I may get to head home early if the power gets back up.
