Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

H3ll's bells, I'm just going to start spending; they can't tax what you don't have.
And as for CD's, don't let 'em lock you in for too long; with banks advertising those rates, they just know the rates are going up! Hello, 9% interest on CD's again... I think that was during the Carter malaise, come to think of it.

God Bless you Mr. Secretary. I will miss your press conferences. You took no prisoners and it was quite entertaining. I'll second that. There was much that I liked about Rummy, but there was an equal amount I disliked. My prayer is that Robert Gates will fully fund the services shouldering most of the burden - ie the Army and Marines.

but it's also possible that he knows he'll just be a punching bag and has simply had enough.I'm thinking he believes that his continued presence would only make it worse for the men and women on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Dems will continue to pound him, and embolden the terrorists in both places. He probably thought that by removing himself from the equation things would be better. I think he's wrong. They'll pound away, no matter who is at Defense.

Rummy as a "civilian" commentator could be most entertaining. And useful.*snort* Entertaining, indeed.
Well, God Bless him. He and his wife deserve a break from all the crap. I hope they have many more years to enjoy together out of the maelstrom.

And I started by buying a new bird feeder. Also Dr.Z found an abcess starting below my one and only root-canal so I have to get that fixed tomorrow. I've been witness to several of OB's teeth abcessing so I had the impetus to not put this off.

I wonder if they're taking pre-orders on the book he'll have to write.
And he has to write a book now that he's out. It's a rule.

Yep, that charge of the horsemen is great. And the moments right before it, with Theoden riding along clattering the pikes and the shouting as the Rohirrim looked for and found their courage, psyched themselves for what was next. I love the counterpoint of the one string fiddle as they get going en masse.

As a native Virginian, that makes me feel great. Thanks.
'Course, in the 19th century, my family lived in NYC, but still, I was born and raised in VA, the foothills of the Blue Ridge, on a farm.

The 5.15% rate is for CD's 12-30 months. The 6 month CD is 5.00%. Anyway, those were the rates as of 10/2. If their lowest deposit can be $250, then I can pyramid up.

A new bird feeder would only go to the squirrels. :)
I should start by buying some heat. Red America should arm up so the muzzies will take out Blue America for us.

From what I've been able to gather (news wise), it was at his insistence. He thought it would be best for the continuation of the war.

That would likely be a great read, as much as he's witnessed and been a party to for the last 40 years!

I'm taking my cash to Delaware. (no sales tax) Deleware's a little far for us :-). Most shopping centers around here have been built or improved with some kind of public-private partnership agreement which allows the sales tax to be a little higher, so I think I'll be looking at more internet shopping.

OB is available to review and advise :-)
