Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Very labor intensive and a real test of how much the SCA'er wanted to wear mail.

Way back, before the Earth cooled, I really started getting into this stuff. In addition to the sword I'm holding below, I made a great helm, and started on a mail shirt. I didn't have any special tools, and was making 1/2 inch rings. The piece of mail I stopped at was 10 by 20 inches, and had more than 400 rings.

the sets of Hobbiton and Rivendell do still exist and could be used in The Hobbit again.

That's awesome!!

new South Park tonight.

Joseph is eagerly awaiting tonight's South Park because it's gonna be about World of Warcraft and the folks who play it. The WoW folks have been discussing this for days and are half dreading what the guys are gonna do to them. ;o)

Haven't seen it, can't vouch for it's appropriateness for all audiences, but it doesn't ~sound~ like a subject that should be too bad ;~). Matt and Trey reportedly spend many of the hours they're working (waiting for animators or whatever to finish) playing video games, so if they're going to mock them, it's self-deprecating mocking. :~)

Joseph doesn't think it will be too bad, and he and the other WoW folks will get a real kick out of it, I'm sure.

Hmmm almost interested in seeing it. I have not played WOW in a while though. That and the TV is not hooked up to anything but dvd player and a vcr. Maybe I can find it on the internet somewhere.

"The WoW folks have been discussing this for days and are half dreading what the guys are gonna do to them."

Using my kids as an example would go something like this:

Me: "Dinner's ready"
Them: "Not now, we're going on a raid"
Me: "it's going to get cold"
Them: "That's ok"
Me: "suit yourself, I'm not fixing anything else"
5 hours later, Them: "WE'RE HUNGRY!"

Honestly...this is the truth.

Yesterday we went to a job fair with Steve. I had to take him a nice set of clothes, so we just went with him and sat off to the side where no one could see us.

So while we're sitting there, I told Matthew "Maybe someone here will give that Dad a job!"

Matthew replied "Maybe by this time next month I'll be wearing underwear with glow-in-the-dark dollar signs on them."

~blink~

Matthew also said something else and for some reason you came to mind...

The job fair was at the OSU Tulsa campus and we were wandering around at one point looking for a vending machine while waiting for Steve.

We were going up some stairs and Joshua commented about the stairs...like they were steep or something and Matthew said "These aren't stairs, they're platforms for the students to hurl heavy silver goblets down onto the provosts."

I asked him where he heard that before and he said he'd just made it up...

Nope. My question has been, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

The answer is, YES!

I think the most amazing thing in that is that he knew and used the word "provosts."

Hehehe....

I was checking out the local news from back home (at WRALTV.com).

They're investigating a lottery fraud case.

That didn't take long.
